Reading this the thing that popped out to me was that Kunitz makes 3.85 mil a year and James Neal makes 5? I don't remember was Neal extended during his career year? |

I'm getting nervous someone please reassure me we aren't hiring Pierre. - dbell646
Today is going to become a local holiday. Pierre Day. His first move as GM will be to i̶s̶s̶u̶e̶ ̶a̶ ̶P̶a̶p̶a̶l̶ ̶B̶u̶l̶l̶ ̶d̶e̶c̶l̶a̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ announce it at the press conference. |

I heard the new GM will be announced today... is that true, or just people saying "it will be today" until it finally occurs? |

Mark Madden said he believes it will be today "at the earliest", so we may still have to wait. |

I'm calling it!
New GM is Brisbois with Pierre helping out in office somehow. By end of the week new coach will be Tocchett with Billy G as his asst.
Boom done... let's clean house and get rid of the old guys... I'll let you keep dupuis but only as a 3rd line guy... The rest can go |

Pierre will put himself behind the bench---and interview himself during a stoppage in play. |

That doesn't sound as preposterous as it should. |

It's Pierre! Preposterous is normal. "Ain't that right, Doc and Edzo?" |

Evil prediction: Lemieux will announce himself as the new GM, and replace Bylsma with Pierre behind the bench. |

After reading this, who are we to say that McGuire would be a horrible GM. If one of the greatest minds in the history of hockey is his biggest supporter, how bad can he be?

This was the only passage that can be credited to Bowman
“I want the guy to have a knowledge of the talent pool, not only in the NHL but in the amateur ranks,” he said. “My son in Chicago (Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman) loves to go watch hockey. You can get people to work your cap, but you have to see the talent yourself because a lot of times you have to make that final call.”
“He has a plan. He was telling me about it,” Bowman said. “It's unfortunate. He came very close (to the GM job) in Tampa, very close in Montreal. They have tremendous expectations (in Pittsburgh). They just need someone to pull it all together.”
Everything else was Joe Starkey's opinion. |

Not worried about what Bowman or Starkey said is the column. More interested that Bowman endorses McGuire. |

Well, espn just reported that Pierre is a legit candidate for the gm job, so that can't be true. |

Easy to endorse when there are no consequences for doing so. |

They actually reported on the NHL? I'm shocked! I figured they would be too busy telling us what LeBron had for breakfast or his views on the situation in the Ukraine.
We've got a LA/NY SCF but hey ESPN please give us more coverage of the NBA and James opinions on stuff we don't give a poop about. |

I'm done with the outdoor games. They've ruined it with scheduling too many. I enjoyed the Winter Classic, but now the concept is over-exposed.
Just praying the Pens are left off the schedule next year. I would rather watch a Pens/Sharks game on good ice. |

There is also nothing to gain from it. Bowman doesn't seem like the type of person to blow smoke. |
