That is true. One of my fears has been we will have so many prospects at the same development level that it will become a numbers game. We'll have to part ways with quality talent before we know what we truly have.
Edit: btw Cab, I'm doing some Cabining this weekend in Alleghany, should be fun. - Buffalo-Sabres
Good times down there. Gonna head to camp tomorrow . next 3 weekends I will be stuck in the city. |

I am so confused on how so many people now want Draistail over Reinhart if both are on the board... that is just shocking to me.
If it was me... I would take Reinhart at #2 (assuming Ekblad goes to FLA) and then try to trade back into the 7-11 range to take Ehljers - JVince11
It's more of the fact that they think we will pick him, not necessarily that they WANT us to pick him. |

Hmmm...
I just look at the "franchise" part of it.. and I think that Reinhart is a guy to build around as a 1C.
I see Draistail just as a piece of the puzzle and maybe a really good 2RW but not the guy you build around. |

Buffalo recieves St. Louis's 2014 1st round pick if the Blues re-sign Ryan Miller or if they trade his rights before the draft. If Miller signs or is traded after the draft, it becomes a 2016 2nd round pick.
I never realized that second part of it. Am I just out of the loop or is that a new part?
I always thought we talked about that STL would just wait until after the draft and resign him and then they owe us nothing (this was before they did the whole Allen is our goalie thing) |

I don't get the logic.
Trade your best defensemen who is literally just entering his prime at 24, draft one only to have to go through roughly the same growing pains.
If anything, Hoff gets traded based on his age and the fact that he mailed it in here last year. |

Best case scenario. Think we could get a great return for the Hoff |

No we do not...
I know that none of us thought we would trade McNabb and 2 2nd round picks for Fasching and Deslauriers.
Or that we would end up with William Carrier instead of a bigger prospect like Rattie from STL.
I really am happy with that offensive depth that we added to our system at the deadline.
We basically built a solid two lines worth of guys...
Fasching, Deslauriers, Carrier now with Grigorenko, Larsson, and Armia. Of course we have guys like Baptiste, Compher, Hurley, Possler, and Bailey who look promising but are years away. |

And we're gonna have even more high-end 1st rounders to add to that already solid pool |

I agree with this... I really don't think that Ehrhoff puts on the blue and gold sweater next year.
There are too many teams that need D and the UFA pool is shallow and the draft is weak.
I also don't see us taking picks unless it is high picks in next year's draft.
I could see us getting a solid 2nd line player with a year or two of contract left for Ehrhoff... and a prospect or something. |
