Take Vinny, please. - ob18
Just curious on your thoughts about Brandon Alderson being a darkhouse candidate to make the roster as Bill mentioned in his blog. I'm assuming you've seen him play a decent amount on SSM. He looks to fit the physical profile Hexy would be looking for in his wingers. I'm wondering if he could develop into a Dwight King or Kyle Clifford type of forward. Bottom 6 forward with a little offensive scoring punch and generally defensively solid.

Always a chance, see how he does in camp and if he runs with the chance. |

Darren Dreger: Ryan Kesler hasn't changed his mind. He wants a fresh start and to move on from Vancouver; he met with Benning earlier this week to talk about that. It's believed that Kesler still has six teams on his list that he's willing to be traded to. And we think that Philadelphia and Anaheim are among those.
Pierre LeBrun: The asking price remains high, as it should for a guy that only has a $5 million cap hit for two more years. The Canucks don't just want futures here, they want a player that can help them now, preferably a centre.
B. Schenn plus ?

TSN reports Kesler wants out of Vancouver and Philly and Anaheim are the front runners per Darren Dreger

1. Thank you for using only 1 s in his name.
2. No, please no, unless the Canucks eat 2 million in exchange for a 2nd rounder |

So help me god if Hextall trades Schenn and picks for Ryan (frank)ing Kesler I'll drag him by his well groomed goatee and throw him into the Schuylkill. |

Nowhere does he say Flyers and Ducks are front runners. Just teams on Kesler's list. For all we know neither team could have any interest in him. |

Because they think those are 2 of the 6?
Is this a trick question? |

He's not Brayden Schenn and high picks good. No way. Especially on this team with too many centers already |

lol b&
also that was in 2006. That would be 8 seasons ago.
So, since they threw an OS at him almost a decade ago, the Flyers still, 8 years later, are a lock to push hard for him.

True, but if we can trade Vinny for picks to whoever and Schenn for Kesler and they retain some salary, maybe I guess |

I don't doubt the Canucks would have interest in B. Schenn. However, I feel this situation is very similar to Howson trying to trade Nash. He kept calling Homer, but he wasn't willing to budge on Schenn and Coots.
The organization has a lot invested in Coots and B. Schenn. I would find it suprising if they trade them when both are just entering their primes and will be cost effective in regards to salary for the next 3-4 years at least. |

I mean, that's sort of what I meant...
This whole "winning now" thing is funny to me. Like what does that mean? You (the general you, that is) don't want the team to address needs? You (there it is- that general you again) want them to just twiddle their thumbs until some draft pick pans out?
Personally, I want them to take a look at ways to improve the team, but not break the bank by compromising the future (or part of the future). This is why I liked the Streit and AMac deals.
Which is why I'm against sending Schenn and picks out to the Jets for Buff. And pretty much why I'm against sending Schenn out at all. |

I hear yah. I'm not trading young players and picks unless it's for a young Dman or young stud left winger. |

How about Vinny and second, LOL. I should amend this. If they would take vinny back and Vinny would waive I'd throw in some future picks if we can't traded Vinny. |

I don't think it can be understated, that B. Schenn was the key piece in the Richards deal at the time. Sure, Simmonds has exceeded expectations. Also, Hexy was in the draft room when he was drafted, and stated his number one priority is to resign him this summer.
If Clarke was the GM, I would be worried about this rumor. With Hexy in charge, not so much. |
