True, but that pick was 59th overall, so it was pretty much a 3rd. - jmatchett383
I'm comfortable sitting at #17 or even sliding back to around #20 - #22 |

Cgy traded back 7-spots in 2012 and got pick #42 out of it. I'd guess moving up 5-spots would cost us pick #48 or equivalent haul in players/prospects. |

I'd prefer Pierre stay on the air opposed to Jim Jackson. He's brutal. The worst imo. - PLindbergh31
at least PM isn't the pxp guy. his bench gig keeps his input down to some degree. i don't think JJ is the worst. not by a long shot. however, i do not enjoy his work any longer.
i've said it before - gene is the best flyers pxp guy that will ever be. he'll never be replaced. |

Not when we need more prospect depth, Hexy was involved in building LA, if he takes that approach he'd move back before moving up. Or at least I think that anyway |

if KT stays, i assume he'll get in something in the 3m range. - hammarby31
I'm assuming $4.5M.
Honestly, Kimmo would get $6M on the open market. |

for 1 year? maybe on a team with room/needed to get to the floor. i don't think he's worth 6.
maybe he'll get 4.5. but i believe the flyers are tight to the cap, as usual, and i don't know that hextall will want to be shuffling all kinds of parts to accommodate him. i think that 1-1.5 could be better spent than on him. |

I'd prefer to pick twice... but it's good to have a rough idea of cost if somebody fantastic drops to 10-13. |

Same. Giving up more picks to move up will leave them with very little in the next 2 rounds. |

Yeah, that's the ballpark I'm thinking -- $4M w/ bonuses that could raise it to $5M. |

No doubt....Just going with how limited our prospect pool is right now, giving up more picks isn't the best way to go |

I'm not saying they should, just asking what it would take. I'm just very high on H. Fleury, so if it didn't cost us our first/second or first/A-type prospect, I'd do it. If that's not feasible, then I wouldn't. |

He's still a top 4, two-way defenseman with high character and playoff experience. You don't think a team like Colorado would pay $6M for one year of Kimmo? |

To be very honest, that is the most overrated part of player development. The players who can adapt, will adapt. Those who can't are not helped (some have even been hindered) by coming over here to play junior hockey. The real key is knowing when the player is ready to come over and not trying to rush it.
The primary benefit of coming over earlier really isn't the rink adaptation. Rather, it's more of the language/culture adjustment (which is much less of an adjustment for the Swedes and Finns than the Czechs and especially the Russians). - bmeltzer
I just don't like the attitude that some European and Russian players eventually get by wanting to go home. Ilya Kovalchuk being a prime example. Jagr to another extent, even though he came back and has been loved by his all his teammates since coming back. Some teams have usde a first round pick and they don't even come over. I know it's rare but it still bugs me. |

To be fair, US/Canadian players can be just as cranky and whiney for different reasons. |

Asking because wha if Boyle say sings again at 6 mil. Do you want kimmo back again at 6 mil? That's all I am asking - J35Bacher
If Kimmo wants to come back, he's going to want to be paid fairly and according to the market.
He has stated that if he comes back, it won't be for the dollar, but he won't come back for free.
As for me, I think the Flyers need Kimmo more than Kimmo needs the Flyers right now (unless Hextall has a trade he plans on unfurling on the league that brings a comparable defenseman back for the Flyers). |

Yeah. This is why people get upset when the Flyers trade away 2nd and 3rd rounders like they're meaningless. They may not produce many star players from those rounds, but they are a valuable trading chip on draft night.
I know I'm stating the obvious, but, please don't stop me. I'd like to read it again. |

Not sure Jagr is a great example. He went to the KHL for the money, I'm pretty sure. |

We'd also end the comments like "absolutely phenomenal hockey player. Oozes with creativity and talent. No one else in the league could make such a magnificent play like that", when all Crosby did was bat a puck out of the air and pass it. - funmaster18
It would dramatically reduce the mentions of Shattuck-St. Mary's. Wonder what they pay him for that? |

Like his game when I watched, but I'd be just as happy with Dysin Mayo, Aaron Irving, or Joshua Jacobs (right now committed to Michigan St with his OHL rights belonging to Sarnia) |
