Boy, that's pretty poopty letting Bylsma hang around for 3 weeks only to fire him 2 hours after hiring the new GM. I think he'd have been immediately fired if Washington didn't have an opening at the time
Edit: I'd have to formally check the timetable on that though, but I'm kind of certain Washington cleaned house before Shero was canned? - eayost
I think the main reason they didnt let him go was because they wanted to see what their new GM wanted to do.
No sense in firing the guy if your next GM wants him |

Couple questions for fun...
What players did you love before coming here and by the time they did, was like Christmas for you? Like for me for example would be Chris Pronger, Tony Amonte, Danny Briere, Jason Smith, Ray Emery and Wayne Simmonds.
Also using the examples of Chris Pronger, Peter Forsberg and Patrick Sharp. Do you love these players for what they've done here or what they've done elsewhere? If you can think of other names, I would prefer you name them and use them as an example instead. |

With Doc Emrick out for Game 1 of the SCF, NBC used a guy Kenny Albert who is a radio guy during the season as it's lead announcer.

His side of the story? Like he's going to come into a meeting with a potential new boss and say it was all Shero's fault and that would be productive? I don't get it.
And it makes no sense for call from on high if they weren't planning to give new GM a say.
What a weird place. |

Just solid journalism. I'm sure he'll be wondering why he doesn't get any one on one interviews. |

His side of the story:
"I took a budding dynasty with 2 top-5 players in the league, good depth at both offense and defense, and an elite goalie and we won a Cup. Then, I just figured we'd be fine no matter what we did. Over that time, our goalie regressed, our depth players did whatever they wanted to, the defense stopped listening to me, and our captain went against me in the room. We haven't won a game past round 2 since we won The Cup.
Where's my raise?" |

I could have seen "his side of the story" maybe meaning that they would sit down and figure out what kind of team they both want and if that meshes or not. Almost like interviewing for a job he already technically has.
Apparently that didn't happen however |

Yeah, that's the ballpark I'm thinking -- $4M w/ bonuses that could raise it to $5M. - Tomahawk
I would not be in favor of signing Timonen to a deal involving bonus money. I'd offer him a one year deal for no more then 4M, and preferably for 3M. |

Against my better judgement, I watched the last 5 minutes and was appalled. My dad's 58 years old and hauls logs around all day for $50K a year. He gets cramps...and he works. Dude worked a full day carrying 200lb logs around on a broken foot. I know all athletes are spoiled and all, but it's a disgrace that an elite team leader can't play in the last minutes of a 2-point game because of cramps. |

Roenick and Forsberg.
I was never a fan of Pronger before he came here. But that is one of those things where you hate a player until he is your player.....

Always liked Forsberg a lot. Nothing could top the morning that I found out we signed Shea Weber to an offer sheet, though. I literally (literally) almost pissed myself with happiness.

I do love what they've done here and elsewhere, aside from Sharp celebrating on the Philly ice. As long as the player played hard here and wasn't a nuisance like Carcillo/Boulerice, I wish all of our ex-players well. I will continue to cheer for Mike Richards unless he's signs with one of NYR/NJ/Tor/Bos. |

I've never been a guy that hates teams or players. Except for one player. I hated Jagr. Never liked him as a player. But his one year as a Flyer gave some insight, and added some respect for him. |
