Yeah...Voracek is blossoming...he's going to be an elite winger for a long time. I absolutely love him, might be my favorite current Flyer.
- Jsaquella

i'd like to see him start to shoot more, and doing it sooner rather than dragging a play on and on that might result in nothing. it's not becoming more selfish - he's pretty good at that already - but letting it rip.

he does. the same issues of inconsistency, slow starts, lack of team d, trouble scoring at 5 on 5 - have been plaguing the team for a long time regardless of the coach and the players.

I really hate that trade. Not Schenn, but the value aspect of it...sold way too low on JvR
- Jsaquella

Interesting that jvr is out there in trade rumors again. Or at leaden not mentioned as an untouchable. I mean the guy is still young, is on a cheap contract. I think his streakiness is frustrating.

kinda. 1974 and 75 say hi. 76, 80, 85, 87, 97 and 10 do also. they get there and face dynasty-esque teams and fall short. it's not a surprise they won against boston and buffalo but didn't win against any of those other teams.

almost, but they do count.

the sharks have never even made the final. with all their regular season success, to not have at least achieved that opportunity....that's what i'm talking about. they can't even get their. blown 3-0 lead against the ducks. disgrace.

I'm not sold on him either.

Our new rookie coach with his calm attitude approach to the team is very John Stevens like. Another rookie coach that couldn't quite get us to the promised land. I'm just hoping he doesn't give our young players too much rope. I'm already seen favoritism when it comes to Berube.

You also don't need a coach flipping out behind the bench all the time. Laviolette could flip out back there with the best of them and that approach will always run its course after awhile.

I like how candid Berube is about what the team does and doesn't do well. And as for the favoritism, I don't know about that. There doesn't seem to be sacred cows on this team. He doesn't save anyone in the press the way Lavvy would occasionally.

If Berube does have a weakness, it's for guys like our pal Rinaldo.

No idea.

Only caught the highlights of the game anyway. Both teams play a boring style imo. I don't watch two D-firsts going at it if Flyers aren't involved.

- flyer_nutter

Every single good team wants to play well defensively. Both teams aren't D first. They are puck pressure teams who want to forecheck, as well as play well defensively. When they don't have the puck, they want to get it back as fast as possible

I just look at the possession numbers and cringe. While Schenn & Simmonds were better away from Vinny, they were not exactly driving possession without him. Voracek was one of the best players in the NHL in terms of possession, you get him with Schenn and I could see the latter having a breakout season.
- Jsaquella

Every single player in the lineup isn't going to, and doesn't need to drive possession. It's way overblown. Painting every single player with the same broad brush, and under the same standards is exactly how Corsi isn't supposed to be used.

I don't see that as a weakness. A coach only has so many options on who to play.
