As much fun as this has been seeing you crying your O&B tears and hating hippies, I have a little girl who needs feeding.

Enjoy being a cantankerous fool who loves to hate his favorite team and feels they are always in the wrong. I'm gonna go feed my adorable 7-month old girl and make love to my beautiful wife.

it really is kind of strange how many ex-flyers have won elsewhere. could be just the fact that we know them (and follow them to some extent; like when you buy a certain model car and start noticing them more?) but it sure seem like no other team comes close to the flyers in that category. that and losing captains to head injuries....

We traded Al MacAdam to your Golden Seals, yet, they never won anything.

Give credit where it's due.

Only ex-Flyers win cups. If we never trade them, the never become "ex-Flyers", and thus would never win anyways. The key in all this could be reacquiring as many guys as possible. Hasn't worked yet (close with Boucher), but when the Flyers do eventually win the cup, they'll be an "ex-Flyer" on it. This is why they should target M Richards if he's bought out. No other reason besides this (although this theory may not work with players who have already won elsewhere).

Go hard for JVR.

There is only one logical conclusion to guarantee a Flyer Stanley Cup every year. Relocate the team at the start of the season every year. A team full of ex-flyers will probably go 16-0 in the playoffs. On the day of the parade, relocate them back to Philadelphia.

He won with the Kings though. I may be wrong about Richards because he's won. This could be the key

Well, they brought back Hexy as a player and didn't win, but now he's won as an exec and he's the GM.

A few thoughts on the off season ahead.

Using the example of the shortcomings the Flyers had heading into this season's trade deadline, I feel they should target and execute the same way. What I mean by this is, Luke Schenn was having a tough time as a third pair defenseman but were his struggles directly Schenn's fault or who he was forced to be paired with? Erik Gustafsson and Andrej Meszaros had their good games but they also had their bad games. Neither were in the line up regularly though. The Flyers notice the issue and address it by trading for Andrew MacDonald who instantly improved the third pair issue.

Ron Hextall is coming from a team that has Drew Doughty. This team doesn't have Drew Doughty. I don't think you can put value on a Drew Doughty because the chances are slim that teams are going to be willing to part with such a high end talent because first pair, puck moving defenseman are high in demand. The best teams in the league already have one locked up and will be unwilling to part with them...with one exception. Shea Weber.

Do I believe Shea Weber will be dealt? I don't know. I'm not apart of the Nashville management staff. It really doesn't matter what I think. If you are asking me though, it really shouldn't be impossible. Nashville does have promising young defenseman such as Roman Josi, Ryan Ellis and Seth Jones.

If there is a possibility of trading for the soon to be 29 year old Shea Weber, I think the time is now for Nashville before he heads into an early 30's decline (If at all). Nashville isn't very close to becoming a Cup Contender and while I don't feel the Predators will ever get equal value for a play of his status, it never hurts to get a return Ala Carter (To Columbus), Richards (To LA) and Pronger (From Anaheim).

While I do feel like the Flyers have the inside track with Laviolette now Coaching the Preds, a team like the Oilers have much more assets to part with. They have young and experienced talent everywhere. The Edmonton Oilers may even need a number one defenseman even more then we do. At the same time, Laviolette knows the players who play for the Philadelphia Flyers. If we were willing to part with Brayden Coburn who's cap hit is half of the savings we could use shipping him out, to get Weber in. Of course more would have to go to make it work but I use Coburn as an example because the two players are about the same age, I believe Coburn brings an element Nashville is missing and you have to give quality to get quality. Right now Coburn might very well be our number one defenseman under contract, so I would start with him as a guy I would be willing to give up to get a Shea Weber type.

It's amazing to me how the tide turns. Jason Spezza, Ryan Kesler, Vincent Lecavalier, Mike Richards, Joe Thornton. When Mats Sundins moved on from Toronto, the Leafs haven't been able to come across a legit number 1 center since. The closest you could come when Sundins moved on were players like Chris Drury, Scott Gomez and Danny Briere. Suddenly defense is impossible and center is becoming s dime a dozen.

Shifting to another need, we do not have a natural shooter (outside of Lecavalier) to play with Giroux. So I ask, would anyone consider moving Jake Voracek for a natural young shooter? Would you go hard after a young shooter with good hands like Bobby Ryan at the expense of Voracek? Would you be okay with bringing James van Riemsdyk back if Voracek was going the the way? I like Jake Voracek a lot. He's got great hands, nice speed for a player with size and great passing ability. The problem for me is, is his shot. He doesn't use it as much as he should and even if he does, it's not overly threatening.

I think we should target players with current deals. Players teams don't necessarily want to walk away from but players they can no longer afford and would like to find success another way. Signing band-aids like Jussi Jokinen, Benoit Pouliot, Nikolai Kulemin and Milan Michalek I'm not so sure are the answer. Jokinen I will admit is the best of the bunch I admit. I could totally see Jokinen and Pouliot staying put but Kulemin and Michalek aren't very good. None of which do I feel are a good fit with the exception of Jokinen.

Last, our fouth line. Some of my favorites in recent years have been Carcillo-Betts-Powe/Laperriere, Brashear-Lapointe-Radivojevic and Ranheim, Manderville and whoever they such with them Berube maybe? he point is, fouth line. We need one. For the first time in awhile, we've dropped the ball on the fouth line.

Dig Leighton out of the KHL.

Blockbuster trade with Toronto for Lupul and JVR. Doesn't matter who is traded.

Get Sbisa back. Whatever it takes.

Jason Akeson and Wayne Simmonds lead Toronto to their first Cup in a billion years over the Anaheim Ducks. Mark Alt wins the Calder as a member of the Ducks

Me too, but if it's a guy from LA, I won't be surprised if it's not done until after the draft. If he's bringing in a guy who was involved in LA's draft prep and inner workings, why would they release him right before the draft to go to Philly?

Who knows, maybe it'll be an in house guy like Pryor or Brown? Maybe Paddock gets the nod, he's been an assistant GM in the past and is regarded as a good scout & evaluator.

Lecavalier scores 93 goals for the Preds and they lose to the Leafs in the final
