I like having a rooting interest when watching a sporting event. In other series I root for players I like. No reason not to root for players I liked here. If they were playing against the Flyers, I'd be rooting for the Flyers. - bodiva88
Yup, I hear ya. I was just hoping for a solid, hard fought series, and if came down to it, say in a game 7, I'd definitely be leaning toward the Kings because there's nothing I like about the Rangers. But even with the 2 OT games, it just doesn't seem like this series is close...so it's a little disappointing for me. And Richards, Carter and Williams are kicking ass, but they already have their names on the cup, so I'm just kinda meh about the whole thing right now.
I am looking forward to the draft though. |

Evidently, wanting to win and spending to the cap, building a stadium without brutalizing taxpayers, doesn't get you very far nowadays - AllInForFlyers
Its frustrating that they haven't won the cup since 75 but they've been in the mix and entertaining almost every year since. I don't see alot to complain about in that respect. |

I've been to two SCFs in my STH years and a lot more playoff games. It's been good relative to a lot of teams in the league. But I'm young enough I figure there's still time for me to see them win another cup. This time with me in the building. |

Singing. Let's keep the mind out of the gutter. It was a Brazilian Sanctus. Very interesting 20th century piece.

The main problem I have is, the short sighted nature and knee jerk reactionary type moves that they seem to make. That's the real issue that plagues the Flyers. Not culture, but ignoring the long term for the benefit of the now |

I can understand being frustrated by that, but also understand that having an owner who is passionate about winning is far better than having an owner who only cares about the bottom line. |

I love Snider's passion. I just wish that the passion came with a bit more patience.
I also don't think the Flyers are that far away. They need pieces, for sure, but they are not one of the dregs of the league in need of a massive retooling. |

Like I said im frustrated too about not winning a cup for 40 years now. I don't think that its sniders fault, without him I doubt the franchise would've been competitive as long as they've been.

The lack of patience is predicated because of lack of player development before the last two years. They didn't even have prospects to give up in trades to get established average d-men (so to acquire they had to give away draft picks).
I have no problem with trying to win the Stanley Cup each year. The root problem is the inability to effectively draft on a yearly basis to acquire talent which can be used as a tradable asset or offer an entry level contract on the big club. |

I was a joint STH for a few years and was at game 2 of the finals in 80.
What a team
I think Holmgren had a few goals in that game with a horribly torn up knee.
He was one of the first US born players to have 30 goals playing with Kenny Linseman that year, if my memory is correct
3 illegal goals for the Isles in game 6 and they called penalties on Flyers players playing with broken arms durint the playoffs. They wanted a NY Metro area team to win, I made a gentlemens bet with someone the Flyers would not be allowed to win the Cup because of marketing reasons in 1980
My beliefs are well founded with history
The isles were a dynasty, but the league handed them the first one |

Bah, when I sat back a minute and contemplated our conversation, I realized you were a bit closer to the gutter than I was as I was definitely in the arts and theater district with my thoughts. And not being the dirty one in a conversation is refreshing. Thanks!
And from now on, when I think Bodi from Virginia, I'll think cranky. |
