I thought it was for one more year and Pegula would just put his locker directly in the press box for that reason. - Buffalo-Sabres

If Zadorov is a bust, and they do need to replace him, having Jason Pominville still makes that a void that needed to be filled. You probably could make the same argument for Larsson since he's a different type of player. He doesn't help me fill those voids. Again, it's about the end result. Even if I give in and call it a "loss", it's a "loss" equivalent to a road game on the 3rd in four nights. It's one that I was going to write off anyway, and bothers me very little. - buffalofan19
Again though, you are then either making trades or using draft picks to fill the void of what you were supposed to aquire in that trade.
Even if we end up with a cup, would still be considered a bad trade on our end |

So is the Scott Gomez/Ryan McDonagh trade irrelevant?
I just don't think it's as cut and dry. Sometimes teams just clearly get the better player - sbroads24
If the Rangers don't ever end up with a championship, very few people are going to look back at it in say 10 or 20 years. Sure, it might come up on some "interesting offseason trades in history" segment on television. Having the "better player" means nothing to me if it doesn't produce the desired end result. Take 2011 for example. I'm not sure Boston had the "best player" at any role in the league. Perhaps Bergeron might have been the best shut-down center, but other than that, I don't think so (Chara might have been the best defenseman, but he definitely wasn't by a mile). They were a rare situation where the whole greatly exceeded the sum of its parts. |

And, again, I say "so what"? I have a championship. The team that supposedly "won" the trade doesn't. |

Dam. At least he seems to enjoy the American dollars rolling in. |

It was a bad trade for Boston, IMO. Seguin is 22 and is going to be a star in this league. You make room for a guy like that on your team.
I will take the guy with the "bad attitude" that gets 80+ points a year over the good guy that gets 40-50. - ImThatGuy
Imagine if the Stars got their hands on Evandr Kane?
Benn/Seguin/Kane would be a siiiiick young line to build around! |

Honest question. If Ehrhoff is traded and decides to retire before his contract expires could the Sabres conceivably (legally?) trade for his rights back so he can retire as a Sabre, preventing the recapture penalty? |

I dont think its a good idea. I dont like the idea of trading any assets to win today and I dont like the character questions either. |

If you want to be that general about it...... Sure. I would have a feeling that winning teams would feel differently. You don't become a consistently great team by giving up the best player in trades |

Not brushing past the character issues because they are important, trading for Kane isn't just a "win now" deal. He's still so young that he'd be around when everyone else started to "get it" |

Too Funny so they have roughly 21 million tied up in Phaneuf - Kessel - Clarkson.
For 7 more years , wow
Ouch - Maximum Signal
And since Clarkson was signed under the new CBA. he is not qualified for the compliance buyout. And Leafs used both of them already. They are screwed. |

Seriously, I'm excited for that buy out. Murray played it cool, but he's a guy that says "no" which means no, or "it's probable" which means yes.

I hear ya
Bit whether or not they get the "c" we r gonna have guys Like Stafford, Ehrhoff & Weber showing our young guys the way
I don't think that's a good idea - jdfitz77
another good reason to keep the kids away for now. murray is gonna blow it up after next year. thats my guess. who cares if stafford shows conacher how to peel off of a check. the kids that will actually be here like ristolainen and pysyk should have tuned out weber and erhoff long ago. |

Why the hate ? He helped draft some good players the past 2 seasons and has a grasp on what the team needs. He is an AGM and Tim has control . |
