My mother in law was a black rock polish girl. I'm a bit younger so my real memory of that neighborhood was hanging out at the showplace to see bands and pccasionally playing.

Really? How do you figure?
- sbroads24

Out goes Breiere, Drury, Grier, McKee & Dumont
No playoff series wins after that
I'm not sure what you're questioning?
Clearly the new core wasn't successful in their bigger roles and weren't ready to take on the leadership of the team

My point with bringing someone(s) in...
Doesn't have yo be Callahan...
Is that I don't wanna see that happen again with this new group of young talent
Obviously Max, Timmy & Kotalik weren't up to snuff when it came to showing the young kids the way
Do we wanna make that mistake again with guys like Ehrhoff, Stafford & Weber?
I think that would be a horrible idea

Now is not the time , We should be signing short term contracts. Till we draft more of the core of the future. I bet Murray sends all the young ones down this year . He has already stated that our top pick is probably going back to junior . There is nobody to teach the ways of the NHL yet.
All those players you listed that we we lost were not planned . It was Larry Quinn and Tom Galisano holding to tight to the purse strings. I never thought the core that was left to lead the team had any real leaders . Let's see what 2015 UFA class has to offer . Not the time to sign your new found leader yet

Does anyone actually think trading for evander Kane is a good idea?

48hrs after the stanley cup final game.

from cap geek

The buyout period typically begins the later of June 15 or 48 hours after the Stanley Cup Final ends and concludes on June 30

- cabin

hmmm, that's the normal buyout period though it sounds like. Wonder if the compliance buyout period is the same time or not

I hope so . The sooner the better . Our luck Leino will trip and get injured and we are stuck with him.

Huh?
The Sabres CHOSE to sign Drury over Briere. Danny didn't get an offer till we knew Drury wasn't coming back
We cut Dumont loose & extended Kotalik & Max, both for more than the Jp arbitration award was for
Darcy let McKee go, who wanted to come back and was told "no thanks" (that is right from the mouth of McKee to me personally)
Drury and Grier were the only one we made a real effort to keep

Why do we have to wait a year to bring someone in?
Idc if it's Callahan
Trade for Richards? Vinny?
Idk... Something!
Dare I bring up O'Reilly's name?
He actually seems like a young player that's ready to "lead"

If we do sign a "Callahan" I don't actually want it to be a 7yr deal
But we do have to do something
If we have the opportunity to do it now, then why wait?
We r prob gonna stink again, so getting top guys to sign here in 2015 will be pretty hard too, won't it?
Maybe Patty Kane
But wouldnt u feel better if there was some vet leadership already here to keep his BS in check?
I would

I do wanna make the RIGHT decisions
But I also know that Staff, Ehrhoff & Weber wearing letter nex year is a mistake
And it worries me to give a young kid more responsibility than he's ready for

I don't agree that it ruined Vanek and Roy's career in the least. IMO it was the coach and GM that got stale. Yes they were good leaders but we missed there production more than anything

Whoever we draft shouldn't be here next year. Grigorenko, Armia, Risto should be in the A. Zadorov still in junior I don't think we have to worry to much about ruining any prospects. I do think bringing in a good vet or two would be good for the team next year. Legwand, Boyle, Greene. They don't need to be top 6 guys like Richards or Vinny Just good character and leadership guys.

We need McDavid or Eichel. So NO we don't need to risk that. All the kids will be in Rochester. There is no reason for a leader yet.

What don't folks get about that ? Why must we make a big splash in the UFA market ? Especially at the term and dollars Callahan is looking for . No long term deals yet ! When you build a solid core of good young talent along with everything else happening down at The complex . They will come . And we will not have to overpay for them . Let Tim do his thing ! Just a little more patience is needed.

Listening to Murray's interviews, it sounds like he's going to sign someone, but no one special. He's just filling in the holes, for now.
