Saw him last night on the news. He sounds like a 19yr old kid .

Pretty sure he's in his mid 40's.

Didn't Hodgson begin playing wing last year. On Z's line.
- TheSabresTaco

That and they've been on record as stating Z is playing center from here on out.

Huh?
The Sabres CHOSE to sign Drury over Briere. Danny didn't get an offer till we knew Drury wasn't coming back
We cut Dumont loose & extended Kotalik & Max, both for more than the Jp arbitration award was for
Darcy let McKee go, who wanted to come back and was told "no thanks" (that is right from the mouth of McKee to me personally)
Drury and Grier were the only one we made a real effort to keep

Why do we have to wait a year to bring someone in?
Idc if it's Callahan
Trade for Richards? Vinny?
Idk... Something!
Dare I bring up O'Reilly's name?
He actually seems like a young player that's ready to "lead"

If we do sign a "Callahan" I don't actually want it to be a 7yr deal
But we do have to do something
If we have the opportunity to do it now, then why wait?
We r prob gonna stink again, so getting top guys to sign here in 2015 will be pretty hard too, won't it?
Maybe Patty Kane
But wouldnt u feel better if there was some vet leadership already here to keep his BS in check?
I would

I do wanna make the RIGHT decisions
But I also know that Staff, Ehrhoff & Weber wearing letter nex year is a mistake
And it worries me to give a young kid more responsibility than he's ready for

Want to say we went to the same high school as a bunch of my older friends who graduated several yrs prior to me know him.

Could be wrong though.

Completely agree with going for McDavid/Eichel
Trading for someone who a good leader that won't dramatically affect our scoring won't change that
Bringing in someone that's "captain material" like Callahan, Brown, etc isn't gonna help our goal differential all that much when u consider we lost Vanek/Moulson, Ott, and Miller

Our #1 objective right now should be finding leadership to bring these kids along the right way
Guys like Stoll, don't make LA score more
But a guy like that helping our kids with faceoffs, defensive zone coverage, playing against top lines so guys like Girgensons, and the rest of the young guys don't get overwhelmed....
That's priceless!

There's ALWAYS a reason for leadership
ESP now, when our other choices are horrible

- jdfitz77[/img]

The point is there will be no kids to bring along this year . The kids will be on the farm or left in Junior . You are a year early . And we are not going to trade assets to anyone for one . First thing we are doing is building up assets . They will plug holes this year with short term deals . Look for 2015 off season for any drastic moves to be made.

I'm fine with that, as long as the player comes to play.

No Ville Leino's!

- grand-magus

Moulson and Cally will both do that. No, they're not the answers to our issues. But we need a few decent vets in leadership roles. Leino was a gamble at the time of the signing and it backfired. To be honest I'm glad Darcy at least tried. Granted, it was putting a lot of faith into a guy who simply has not performed consistently yet.

But boy oh boy am I glad we didn't go after Clarkson.

Sam Bennett can now do 2 pullups. Game on!

- Buffalo-Sabres

Jason Spezza and Drew Doughty didn't do any pull ups... People are making too big of a deal out of this.

That said I still wan't Reinhart.

Too much. I don't want to lose Armia in that case. Foligno I don't care, but Armia I want to hold on to.

That's basically what we got for Pommer. A guy who was 30 years old. I think it may cost a bit more. Plus, like the question I asked yesterday.

Is it actually worth it for this team, this year, to trade for that guy? I mean really? The guy's a (frank)ing issue. He's a good player but I don't trust him to be a great player. He's also barely a top line forward who gets benched by a bad team. If you're going to bust a wad on a player..don't do it on him.

If I were to really unload for a guy, it'd be Pacioretty, Eberle, Duchene, Couture, Saad, maybe Skinner.

If Kane doesn't hit free agency and does re-up with Chicago (along with Toews of course), this might be an interesting trade target.

The rest of this list isn't going anywhere except Skinner, but I'd rather have Saad. Skinner seems like a case of lightning in a bottle.

He is 22 and would fit the rebuild timeline perfectly, IMO.

I like him as a player. I am not really concerned about the off ice stuff.

He's young, and fits the prototype, but, because of the off ice issues, I think that he'll thrive better on a team with leadership in place. If that guy is ever to win a championship, it will be on a team like Chicago or LA, teams with big enough leadership personalities to get his ass in line. Buffalo doesn't have that yet.

Well you should, because apparently it affects his on ice stuff.

Personality flaws aside, you're right, he does fit the rebuild. He's a better Foligno, so make sure Foligno goes the other way. It's about cost. I'm not willing to unload for him because he simply has not done that much. In free agency, that's a different story. He's just not. that. good.

Adding to my post. Seguin, now he was that good. Dallas turned Boston around and made them grab their toes. He has/d personality issues but he's also extremely talented. 67 points in his second year and more than a ppg in his fourth year, after the trade. Kane has yet to eclipse 60 points. I do in fact believe he will eventually, but the way he plays, he's going to be broken down sooner than later. So, what, he's good (maybe) for the next 5 years, then starts to get all Callahan? Seguin is a guy you unload on because his play style and his proven NHL ability will last for the next probably 12 or so years.

I don't even think Grigs we be on the roster for too many games next season.

It may take Grigs longer than other early first rounders to be an NHL regular, but I won't lose faith for at least 2 more years. He's starting to get it. Starting to realize he has to play like a NHL player, not a junior. He has the ability and by the sounds of it, he has the will. Hopefully next year he gets a top 6 role and can manage to score 50 points.
