When he won the cup he was hardly challenged. 3 times in the series against New Jersey he faced less than 20 shots.
His regular season numbers outside of 1 season have been nothing spectacular, and this postseason the Kings are winning in spite of him.
He has some of the worst numbers of any goalie this post season. Yet they probably will win the cup.
He has been called the "best big game goalie in the NHL" Yet has had games where he lets in 3 goals on 7 shots in a game 7. - sbroads24
What rates him so high is the fact that, more often than not, he plays better late in games than he does early.
The one thing Quick does do, however, and this is more of an intangible (unless someone figures out some sort of advanced stat to measure this), is for the most part, he does a good job of locking down when he needs to. He rarely lets in the "back-breaker". When the game is, in fact, on the line, you never see those kinds of numbers. Granted, you need to have a good team in front of you to make up for the goals allowed in the "non-crucial" times, but how often have you seen Quick give up "that goal" when it really hurts? It doesn't happen often. He doesn't seem to wear down. He tends to get stronger as a game goes along. |

Well that doesn't work cause Quick doesn't have Kane score on him on a breakaway...oh wait - Stripes77
"Kane owns Quick"
Again though, I think Quick is a great player, but I completely disagree he's the consensus #1 or #2 goalie in the NHL like he's made out to be |

Last post season against the Blues 2x. 1 was a weak wrist shot with a 1:30 to go in the 3rd, and then the next game he passed the puck from behind the net to the opponent in OT.
To be honest, Quick has put his team in a position where they have to score 5 goals in a game 7 to win. Lundqvist on the other hand wins a game 1-0 to advance |

I was a Miller supporter when he was here, it was time for him to leave though.
People get on Miller's case for letting in that soft goal late in a game after he practically stole the entire game before that. It was always "another soft goal late in a game" when there was no business Buffalo being in that game in the first place. Miller haters will say he couldn't lock a game down no matter what just like supporters (myself included) will say he was the reason they were in the game to begin with. |

fair enough...good points...to counter, but not to get into an argument, I'd take him over a goalie like tuuka rask who has much better numbers...

Think it comes down to having a group up front that can score goals. Think we lost 27 games this season by 1 goal. |

I know this was a long time ago, but in 2008 (the year after the fiasco in 2007), they had a group that could score goals. Miller still allowed that back-breaker, a lot down the stretch. Now, granted, he had a heavier workload, but I still see Quick as a better goaltender than Miller. Head and shoulders better? Not even close, but better nonetheless. Miller, like a lot of players that came through here in the past five years or so, have definitely been mentally fragile. I do think that it was largely a product of environment, but they will continue to have, and deserve, that reputation until they prove otherwise. |

If the goalie is someone they think is going to make a difference, they should absolutely give up a couple assets. They have so many prospects now as it is, and are going to add 15-18 more in the next two drafts. Giving up a couple seconds to move back into the first for someone they want - goalie included - should be , and I would guarantee is, in their plans. - grand-magus
they sucked with Miller
make what you want from that statement
the biggest thing the sabres have going for them is training camp with a coach not named rr and an off season with a gm not named darcy |

Oh I'd take Quick no question. I do think he's a good (great at times) goalie. I just say over rated because he's thought of as the best in the game by some. |

if Miller signs in the west, Kane will be the next crosby that owns Miller on a regular basis |

Absolutely. I'm fine with Miller being gone.
I just never doubted whether he had the ability to win |

I can't picture the Wild, not with what the vast majority of people say with Vanek going there. I don't see them being able to fit all these contracts. |
