the problem with that is, the Hawks have 3-4 guys in Toews, Kane, Keith and Hossa who could someday find themselves in the HOF. that's ridiculous. that's less a model than it is a golden age of talent. - DoubleDown
Off course, but don't forget we have Price, who is better than Crawford IMO.
What i meant is we are probably better suited trying to follow Chicago style than Boston or LA. |

Do you think there is a possibility MB signs Boyle for a 2 years contract if Markov walks?? |

I definately think Boyle would be a better transition to Beaulieu than Markov is.
I don't think Markov is mister communication.
Also Markov wants more years than Boyle, so i would be fine signing Boyle for 2 years (and probably for less than 6M$) instead of 3-4 for Markov. |

you can't teach a guy to get bigger
and you can't teach hockey sense-- experience is the only thing that improves that.
but if you have a big guy with an NHL stride; a big guy willing to inflict damage and pay the price, you can develop the rest of his skills... - EricEngels
This...not all of tem will pan out, of course...but it's worth a try.

Agreed...on all counts. With just a little caveat on the Pacioretty issue...but then again, I'll always be convinced he can do a bit more... - TouenneTiiTree
if he scores 39 goals every year i'll be quite content |

Eric Engels: Size, Physicality and the Habs Shortcomings... - EricEngels
Tired of this "size and physicality" narrative.
The Kings are not winning because they are grinding. They are winning because they are a skilled team that can break out of their zone, enter the offensive zone with the puck and shoot more often then their opponents.
It's not Regehr, Green, Mitchell, Brown and Richards that make this team.
It's Doughty, Kopitar, Carter, Williams, Toffoli and Gaborik. |

Even if he follows that up with 5 in the playoffs?
I'm not too worried about the number of goals...it's just that he's a streaky player, with a streaky effort level...hence why I always seem to think he could do more. |

I think so, but there are a lot of unknown variables in there. I don't think anyone's offering Boyle more than 2 years. I think he'll get Gonchar's deal-- 2yrs, 5 per. Then the question is, if Ottawa offers same as MTL, does he go to Ottawa? |

it's the fact that they have better stars than ours, and those better stars are supported by a better supporting cast...
And all of those guys are bigger and more physical than the habs.
