It's highly laughable. I know FLA wants an established Dman. But hell, Kadri & the 8th for #1 pick.. Lol ok ok jk.

Still think Phaneuf and maybe Raymond's rights for #1

well i think we see it like this: you need highly skilled players on your hockey team who can produce offence. we all agree on that. we also agree that players like that are in short supply in Montreal. Vanek is one of those players. now everyone rips him for his playoff performance. but the truth is that his performance was fine for rounds 1 and 2. it was against NY that he was awful. but personally, while i agree he was quite unimpressive, he was also not exactly put in a position to excel by playing on what was our third line with Plekanec. but i do see the point about him being awful in that series. (so were a few other players, FYI.)

does Montreal NEED him to get back to the playoffs? probably not. but the numbers are there. Montreal's record after acquiring him was terrific, and their PDO numbers went northward as well. we won two playoff rounds for only the second time in 20 years with Vanek. i can't understand how his contribution to all of that has become trivialized because he had 6 awful games against NY.

Very valid points here. I still prefer the option of spending the money otherwise.
