Let's evaluate Burke's drafting record with the Leafs (as it currently stands today)

2009- Kadri, Kenny Ryan, Jesse Blacker, Jamie Devane, Eric Knodel, Jerry D'Amigo, Barron Smith.

Kadri was the best pick at number 7 as most players behind him in the first round haven't really done much. (next best pick was 19, Kreider)
The surprise was D'Amigo in the 6th round, as he should have a shot to make the Leafs next year.
Ryan isn't panning out, Blacker was traded, Devane is nothing more than muscle, Knodel isn't impressing in College.

2010 - Ross, Greg McKegg, Sondre Olden, Petter Granberg, Sam Carrick, Daniel Brodin, Josh Nicholls.

Kessel trade year. Ross hasn't amounted to much.
McKegg is a fringe NHLer at this time, may not make it.
Olden wasn't signed. Brodin and Nicholls aren't on the radar anymore.
Granberg and Carrick are the surprises.

2011 - Biggs, Percy, Leivo, Nilsson, Cameranesi, DAvid Broll, Dennis Robertson, Garret Sparks, Max Everson

Biggs is flopping
Percy and Leivo look really good so far
Don't think any of the rest will amount to much

2012 - Rielly, Finn, Toninato, Connor Brown, Ryan Rupert, Viktor Loov

Rielly looks great.
Finn and Brown both had great junior careers and will join the Marlies

The rest look like they will wash out.

So, in total.
4 years of drafting
2 are in the NHL (Kadri and Rielly)
D'Amigo, Granberg, Leivo and Percy look like they have a chance at next years camp
Carrick and McKegg will remain in the AHL and need to impress (they're fringe)
Finn and Brown will start conditioning in the AHL to see if they can make the jump.

I agree that suicide is not funny the fact it's a stuffed animal I think it's a little different situation though.

Why do we want an over the hill defender like Boyle? We could have used him last year, but this year is a rebuild year. We should be concentrating on moving up in the draft and tanking next year. Who cares if we draft 8th, or 13th next year? We aren't getting in, so we might as well face reality. Best to try and slide down and go for one of the top 2 players in the draft. It's a generational draft, next year, with two pretty close to can't miss prospects coming out. Suffice to say, it's also a very deep draft. The time is now to go after a top 3 pick and if possible, draft Bennett. He's a feisty centre with intangibles that we need. It's time to plug the hole at centre, once and for all!
