The only way that signing Boyle is even remotely possible is if Phaneuf's contract is moved and the chances of that don't appear very high. Nothing to see here.

I do think that Boyle would be a great fit in Detroit, Tampa or Carolina. I could also see the Habs pursuing him if Markov isn't signed.

boyle is exactly the type of player the leafs do not need
getting up there in age, skills diminishing, offensive minded
id rather overpay for orpik ... which isnt exactly high in my list of things to do

that's shortsighted IMO. if he's part of some kind of re-structuring (ie Phaneuf trade) it could be a great move. not a huge commitment, doesn't cost anything, can still play.
