You construct a trade that brings you someone like Bieksa for someone like Lupul. It's easier to get secondary scoring via UFA than it is defense. We need to get a number one centre into the organization. It's been 5 years since we've had anything near one and we just keep chasing our tails. It's insane going forward, not having one. Every contender drafts one and gets 15 years out of them. What? Blozak, Kadri Kola and Blowland are going to make this a contender going forward? . . . - - - . . . This should be the transition year. Play the hell out of the kids and draft high next year at this time.....then start making your assent up the standings, with a 1st line centre and a young and growing defense corps. It's a waste of resources to buy 35+ year old defenders for short term nothing....it's just a waste of money on the cap, playing time for the young guys and kills the draft position on a year where we aren't going anywhere.

Dogs, cats, lions etc will pin down their young by their necks and drag them cheek first on the ground to scold them. Do that to your kids when they are young and i guarandamntee they will remember not to do what they did ever again. Children are no different then other young animals sometimes a good ole scolding is what they need.
