ahh so its kind of like an entry level into the field type position?
- Dozzer

Totally. We are looking at a level 3 coach that my wife has worked with in the past, and we are getting a high level trampoline coach as well. Putting in an in-ground tramp..

Everyone was concerned about Kadri with the same stuff. The kid weighs what 175 and can't get that frame up for ONE pull up? That's worrisome to me. Unless we send him to Gary Roberts of course.
- iTOLDu

Kadri went to Gary Roberts, quit and went on the Doritos and Bong summer program, put on 20 pounds of something.

My wife was just one of the head coaches for Team NS at the Atlantic Canadian Gymnastic championships. As they were leaving, with Boys team Gold, I might add, They found a bunch of the boys clothing remaining in their rooms.

So, they lined the boys up in the Main Lobby, and began to bid on their clothing.

They had to do push-ups to bid.

The boys were doing 100 push-ops to get their shorts back, etc.. One boy did 700 push-ups to get his clothes back.

The manager said they were the best group of kids they ever had..

So, to not be able to do one chin-up is pretty (frank)in bad.. I can do 10..and I am 47

it's bad for sure. but i'm not sure it should be a deterrent. could be that a certain area of his body hasn't been developed properly in the gym. who knows. but you get a kid like this into an NHL organization with NHL strength and conditioning coaches, and that's fixable.

I can't imagine that Bennett couldn't do it...there has to be a reason other than complete failure.

Really, tell that to the entire Leafs team.. Last time the team walked into the fitness room at the ACC, they Said

" So, this is what was behind that door in the training room."

He could have also been tired from the testing or have hurt himself in training. Plenty of reasons...but yes, GM's will look at that 0 push-ups total when drafting, I'm sure.

Because if you can't do one, at 20yrs old.. Holy crap.

Like Underhill, Leafs should put Roberts on the payroll. Leafs could pay him what he wants.

They were overhand chin ups too, those are much harder than your standard under hand. I think the top guy only did 14.

Also, to put in perspective, I can do about 10 of the underhand and only 4-5 of the overhand in one set

It's the biggest hockey thing, in hockey.

non issue, NHL teams can mold him into what they want, easily..better that, than say drafting a fat (frank)er like a wellwood.. it only takes a a couple hours a day for a few months at your local gym to put on a nice chunk of muscle and a bit of weight,..I can just imagine 6 months, having PROS train you, I mean geesh hes still a kid

According to a national study, 17 year olds should be able to do an average of 8 pull ups.

Chin ups in hockey don;t matter... what does it measure?? endurance, leg strength, quickness are much better indicators.

I don't think him not being able top do a chin up hurts him much in the draft.

EDIT: His character, his on ice ability and vision and hockey sense much more important.

well he's right in a way. no team gets the attention the Leafs do. granted, like all Canadian teams they're irrelevant in the US unless they're actually good, but the attention that they get in Toronto/Canada is unrivaled in the NHL.

The kids in the gym do them over handed, and do tons of them.. The kids have to exercise, strength and flexibility.. So very important..

disagree. i think upper-body strength is extremely important today, especially for the guys with a higher centre of gravity.

I'm 23, 6'1" 245 and can do about 20 underhand and hit 10 overhand. When I was 17 those numbers were pretty much the same and I was 5'10" and 175 (not a thin 175 either.) I hit the gym pretty hard that summer and hit my growth spurt late so maybe the same happens here.

Sure it is, not laughing at that. He sounded like a braindead moron there.
