IMO he's still a top 5 pick if that draft is done over today.

He's "dependable" to get those numbers, so the market is at least solid on that production, unlike many other players who will get paid once Free Agency opens up

was watching rick nash and thinking how similar he is to vanek. their goals per game and points per game are nearly identical- nash scores a few more goals, vanek scores a few more points on average. nash currently has 3 goals and 10 points in 24 playoff games this year. vanek had 5 goals and 10 points in 17 playoff games this year. who would you take if given the choice right now? - and obviously not for the sabres this upcoming season we dont need anybody turning the red light on any more than absolutely necessary next year.

Just an IMO.

Nash is a better leader and plays a grittier game.

That's the real difference between the two.

We have had this discussion and both agree that Nash is the better player.

Greetings from the unofficial Redwings Dance Committee. Put a little Motown in the jukebox and lets shake up the draft. First, allow me to say we stand with you - no dancing to Bon Jovi. Second, thanks for the compliments earlier in this thread about our scouting. Unfortunately, Mr. Pachla has inadequately scouted our needs in his blog. We specifically need a R hand D. Love Hoff but he doesnt help our lopsided structure and his long contract is not ideal given how many fine ahl prospects we have on the horizon. Myers shoots R but his declining pt production over 5 yrs and defensive lapses - ouch. Definitely not equal to sub him into Pachla's formula. Foligno isnt much on the stat sheet, but we could use some toughness in the corners. Sign and trade? Let Babs work with him a few yrs and maybe he'll have a happier homecoming than apparently Vanek would receive. Welcome back to the first round. What say you?

No, he makes up for subbing Myers as lesser piece than Hoff into deal. So our first for myers, Foligno, and a 2d per the Pachla proposal.

Not a chance you get Myers for your first let alone adding Foligno and a 2nd

Myers has far more trade value than Ehrhoff does.

If Myers is being discussed in a trade with Detroit I would be looking at something like Myers and Foligno for Tatar, Pulkkinen, and a first

We are not out of the woods yet. From TSN

The NHL GM's discussed the draft lottery and possibly changing the odds, but is there no consensus just yet?

LeBrun: Well it was sort of a confusing day. We spoke to Tim Murray of the Buffalo Sabres who said he was relieved, because he has three first-round draft picks in 2015 and his understanding is there won't be changes to the lottery before then. But we heard from league sources that it's still possible that Bill Daly and commissioner Gary Bettman will make a proposal to the Board of Governors in less than two weeks. So it's up in the air at this point.

- Maximum Signal

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't a vote that goes to the board have to be unanimous? Can't imagine teams like Buffalo would vote in favour.

Correct. A guy who can play, is locked up at a reasonable cap hit for several years that a lot of Buffalonians are sick of for a draft pick? Captain insano right there.
Erhoff is the deal of a century for a team that thinks they have a chance in the near future. Great cap hit, plenty of experience.
I suspect Meyers will be a "veteran leader" on this team in a couple of years.
He fits the rebuild timeline.

If that draft was done over today, Vanek would show up late, and his appearance at the podium would demonstrate a lack of effort because of his hangover.

I stopped being a huge Vanek fan in 2010-2011, but now I don't respect him a bit

15th overall for Myers, Foligno and let's say 31st overall.

Myers alone can get us that 15th +

At this point, I don't think I'd even entertain trading him for a pick (this year at least). If they do move him I hope it's for roster players. Same with Ehrhoff.

I don't really feel like defending him again, but since this hasn't been beaten to a pulp to other fan bases who seem to only look at points.

He's a solid, young, all situations defenseman who is noticeably improving his overall game. I have faith his contract will be a bargain by the time it runs out.

Also, I agree. If he's moved, it better be a tangible return of great proportion.

I was reading on tsn that Vinny le clavier is a candidate to be bought out. Is there a rule about a player being bought out twice?
