A pipe dream, IMO. Every yr, better players than Sharpe can be found atvthe very top of the draft.


The only logical trade scenario for the top pick, would have to involve the Oilers pick @ #3. As long as Fla can still land one of this yr's Big 3, trading back might not be so bad.


Sam Gagner & Sam Bennett for Ekbkad? Maybe, but what if Ekblad is the next Drew Doughty? If thats the case, you dont trade the pick for anything. He did shut down Connor McDavid in juniors this past season.

If Florida picks Bennett or Draisatl. Trade with EDM
If Florida picks Reinhart. Trade with NYI, CGY, or EDM

Murray also mentioned he will under no circumstance trade down below 7th.

Also of note, if FLA doesn't pick Ekblad, I think our 2nd overall will be worth even more than the 1st overall would have been, because in the opinions of everyone trying to move up, which is at least 4, Ekblad is the BPA in the entire draft. We'd put serious pressure on them to ante up.
