Meyers Folino Erhoff and Girgeonsons for Nyquest
- TheSabresTaco

I would stand pat on keeping Foligno and Myers through next season. Tough to judge anyone not named Leino. The team blew feathers and had a hard time doing that .Myers seems to be getting out of the slump and Foligno is only 22. 1 more year of evaluation. what do we have to lose ?

Okay this post almost made me fall out of my chair when catching up on the boards.

I wouldn't target Nyquist or Jurco they are pretty much untouchable if I was Detroit's GM.

I would target Tatar and Pulkkinen. I would offer Ehrhoff and would go from there. Would probably have to add a pick in there or a cap dump from Detroit etc but those are the principle pieces I would start with.

- Stripes77

I don't see Ehrhoff being traded unless TM is able and choses to select Ekbald with their first pick. Why would the Sabres move a top 2 dman who logs big mins and has a very favorable contract to the organization ?

Its pretty clear he doesn't want to be here. He checked out in November of last year. His contract is also a good selling point to other teams. If you could get a good return for him it makes sense to move him.

Ehrhoff is not suited to be a top 2 dman thats also very clear. He is best suited as a 3 and QBing a power play that doesn't have Steve Ott on its first unit.

I think I'm going to start calling Nolan "Magic Man", because fans are expecting him to work an awful lot of it next season, and are seemingly setting themselves up for disappointment.

On this team hes a top 2 dman imo.We have Myers who isn't as consistant and still young then what Weber with the heart of a lion but not the talent ?I don't blame Ehrhoff at the end of the season. At some point the Vet just got tired of losing .I think management should have sit down with him and see where his heads at before they consider taking trade offers and there will be considerable offers for a guy like Ehrhoff imo.

Ehrhoff needs a competent forward group to be really effective, similar to Sergei Gonchar. Personally, I'd rather concentrate on getting him a competent forward group to work with than shipping him out, but that doesn't seem to be what the Sabres plan on doing.

He isn't a top pairing D on a good team, I couldn't care less if he is a top pairing on THIS team. They aren't trying to win now. Myers, Risto, Pysyk, McCabe are all guys that should be a head of him by the time they are ready to be good. Move Ehrhoff now before he gets older.

Ehrhoff was wearing an A all year. When one of your captains checks out that early he is not someone I want around a team full of young players.

Hope its more a stability issue with the team. Once all the managment is in place , it then should fall on the players . It's their roster spots to lose.

Certain people bring out the best in others and anyone whos followed Nolan and the teams hes coached knows that. That doesn't mean all the players he coaches are going to turn into superstars it simply means if they are coachable and have any talent he will find it and bring it out of them.

I've been looking for evidence that he's done this to a material level throughout his career, and I still am. The closest I've got is that he has the ability to make lesser teams feel good about themselves. I can't think of one player under his wing that he's turned into a great player. There are a few lesser talented ones that he got to overachieve a little bit, but nobody that became great. And great is what is needed if we're ever going to see this team win a championship.

Ehrhoff is a guy IMO that has reaped the benefits of the team he played on and not been the cause of a team being good. His best seasons he was paired with the best "shut down guy" playing on a team that had the Sedins and Kesler at their best

That wasn't always the case in San Jose, however, and he was still more than effective. He really wasn't in Vancouver for that long.

So what's the "legality" (in these monopolies) of Pegula owning the Bills. All these reports now that he's going to bid, but what are the rules?

Hoff is good, but his value will only get less and less as time goes on.

Like you said, he's a perfect 2nd pairing defensemen who can be responsible

He was never that good in San Jose. He was moved for peanuts.

He had 1 good offensive season with them where he was sub par defensively

San Jose had Thorton and Marleau in their prime. Cheechoo was still a good player back then, he also wasn't their top pairing shut down guy then.

From what I understand, he's allowed to bid on the Bills, and would be perfectly fine should he win the bid. Since the Sabres and Bills are in the same market, he's allowed to own both teams (per NFL rules).

No rules, just right!

Also, it's not conflicting interest because both teams are in the same region.

I don't expect him to be their top pairing shut down guy, and I don't think the Sabres ever did either. Remember, they gave Myers his deal in the same summer. Ehrhoff ended up being the "top guy" by default simply because Myers became a trainwreck up until last season.
