Pegula Majority owner with Jeremy Jacobs son as a minority. - ImThatGuy
I think Pegula does it alone. He just made $1.75B in selling some land. He will do it solo |

I don't expect him to be their top pairing shut down guy, and I don't think the Sabres ever did either. Remember, they gave Myers his deal in the same summer. Ehrhoff ended up being the "top guy" by default simply because Myers became a trainwreck up until last season. - buffalofan19
IMO Ehrhoff is a perfect #3 d-man that can play top 2 minutes if asked. At 4MM you cant ask for much better.
Contract is a bit long though. But other teams wont have to worry about that. |

Pegula is also going to own downtown.
IMO if Pegula is owner, you will see a stadium next to the arena. |

Ehrhoff got his big pay day because of his time in Vancouver playing along Bieksa. Ehrhoff was sheltered more than the younger Matt Carle in San Jose. |

Pegula's not guaranteed to win the bid even if he puts up the most money. It's all about who the NFL owners approve. If they like someone else (like, say, Golisano) for whatever reason, than Pegula's SOL. It will also be interesting to see how much he's willing to bid for the Bills. Is he really looking to go all in, or is he putting up a bid for PR purposes ("see guys? I tried"). |

I've been looking for evidence that he's done this to a material level throughout his career, and I still am. The closest I've got is that he has the ability to make lesser teams feel good about themselves. I can't think of one player under his wing that he's turned into a great player. There are a few lesser talented ones that he got to overachieve a little bit, but nobody that became great. And great is what is needed if we're ever going to see this team win a championship. - buffalofan19
Stafford as of recent and I didn't say he turns anyone into something they are not .I said he gets the most out of his players. |

Absolutely. Especially with his hotel and sports bar down there. I wouldn't be surprised if he foots more than half of the cost of it either. |

Thanks guys.
I just remember (or at least think I do) something about Cuban not being able to buy the Penguins(or some other team) so I wasn't sure why or what the rules were. And since this is involving the No Fun League, I figured it would be even tougher |

Correct, but If Pegula puts down a $1,000,000,000 bid I see no reason why he would not be approved. |

I said this about Stafford a couple of days ago, and I'll say it again. Stafford played "better" last season when the stakes weren't even six inches off the ground. He, like the team, had nowhere to go but up. He looked better because the standards for him got so low. He's still miles behind where he should be at this point in his career. |

Which he had one good season 50pts and the rest have been in the 30's and 40's which are decent numbers but that doesn't do anything on this team. |

Brings up a semi unrelated hockey point.
I'm terrible with economics so help me out here. Pegula is dumping all this money into downtown (thank the lord). Harbor Center is only the beginning as I firmly believe. What's the payback for giant purchases like these? I realize the guy can just sell land and snag a (frank)ing billion. But with all this development, is it more like a donation from him where he makes his money back in like 25-30 years or is it like owning real estate, Trump style. |

Beyond false.
Addition: Pegula isn't a PR guy. He's a guy who lays low and puts his money where his mouth is.

The payback is largely unknown. He's basically building a minor hockey palace. The economic impact is a complete question mark because nothing like this has ever been built anywhere.
As far as the ability to sell it, like real estate is concerned, unless he starts getting major rental income from the place, I don't think it's that kind of investment. |

Which is why you move him now. It is going to take at least 2 more years to see the forwards improve. That's 2 more seasons on his body (granted he doesn't take a beating) but that's also 2 more seasons of mediocre production from him. Move him for the right parts now before you can't move him for much later. |

Islander fans think vanek will resign and help them get to the post season. Lol - joshs
I'd be shocked if Vanek came back plus not sure if I would want him at 6 or 7 years - Vukota
U guys were a bottom team with vanek last year but yeah don't be suprised if he comes back and pulls u guys into the playoffs! When even a 38 year old has been doesn't want to waste his time u might wanna start thinking about what u really gave up in a previous trade. No but ur right bcz the isles made the playoffs in a shortened season and faced probably the worst Pens goaltending in the last decade. The worst part is NYI was putting together a few good drafts and really starting to make some noise. Can't believe fans aren't calling for snows head. Shame on you - joshs

Actually, it seems like it's you who thinks Vanek will resign there. Do me a favor, leave us out of this boring little game going forward, please. |

I believe his contract still scares people away. It shouldn't, but I think it does. I have a feeling that if he's traded, we are going to be underwhelmed for the return, and the Sabres probably would end up having received more value in services rendered. |
