Vanek had good north/south speed, just was slow as molasses to get into that gear.

I see your point, and Reinhart isn't slow either, he is just slow compared to Bennett. I personally think we definitely need a speedster or two in our top 6

Yep like a yakupov, hall ovechkin, gaborik, Kane. I def would love a player like that.

SABRES CHATTER
Sabres GM Tim Murray says he’d like to pick up another first-round draft pick to add to the second overall pick he already has.

"I can’t imagine I would trade the second overall pick," Murray said. "I’d like to get a couple of more first-round picks and I have those three third-rounders to us. I certainly know you can’t trade a second for a first, but you might take some money back in a deal to do that and I do have to get to the (cap) floor. There are different ways to get to the floor so I’m exploring all that.

He's not much of a "we" person is he?

The most encouraging part about this quote comes if you read between the lines: they're not interested in making the mistake of giving long term contracts to Free Agents.

That's encouraging, but the most important part of that statement, to me, is that he wants to ADD to the 2nd overall pick, not deal it

I noticed a lot of chatter about moving Foligno. Did something specific happen or just a slow day?

Canadian fans are usually nosing around the big players. Honestly besides mysers and erhoff, I think foligno is next on the wish for other teams.

For forwards on buffalo, I agree. But I think Pysyk and either Risto/zads are higher on wish lists than foligno.

Unless the return is unbelievable I'd like to keep ehrhoff. When we start turning things around he'll be a calming presence on our D.

He'll also be 35-36.

If Ehrhoff gets me back into the middle of the 1st round, then buh-bye.

There are other calming influences we could sign. Hopefully Myers can be that guy by then.

Furthermore I think buffalo does have speed in its top 6 with Tyler ennis. Dude gets it done up front year after year yet we, WGR, rags on him. Remember when he was 1st long time called up. Connolly was injured and we plugged him in between hect and pommer and that line rocked. Then we moved him to wing and still scored 20. Then we plugged him on wing with Leino , ugh at center, for half the season and the other half of season he was between Foligno and stafford. Scored ~20 that season. For as much dislike people have with him he's a speedy top 6 who gets it done and often is our best foward.

Thats true about the kids on d, but between them and girgensons, I think people get that the price would be ridiculous.

The kid has some talent and so does Hodgson . Because of all the trades and injuries there has been no stability around them . I would love to see how they perform with talented line mates on a consistent basis.

Very creative, I like it!

The Sabres do have the very 1st pick in rd.2, so maybe that pick + a salary dump gets you somewhere?

Time to target some ovverpaid vets TM!

IMO he's a guy who's got the potential to produce like Wayne Simmonds, but the effort and work effort of Thomas Vanek.

Foligno is a guy that on his own doesn't have a ton of value, but if included in a package could be a key piece to a deal

- sbroads24

There is absolutely no way in hell Foligno will ever produce like Wayne Simmonds. He is a bottom 6 player.

I think Marcus could be a 15-15 guy who kills penalties and (consistency issues rectified) a physical force.

Would rather keep him, but he's no deal breaker for sure

That's more along the lines of what I was expecting

(Besides the nicest way possible, part, LOL)

I think BUF fans have a lot to look fwd too... Grerat prospect depth, some good first team players, good management now, good coaching staff (for young players)

- MrBeanTown

they are good to lead the rebuild but Nolan as HC will never be a stanley cup winner.
