how is it that of all things JOSH BAILEY is the one and only thing that you like about the islanders? - LetsGoIsles
you're obtuse. Love a lot of the players on this team. Check your facts. I bash Garth & Cappy & Wang. THEY'RE the problem. I don't bash many players. Josh was a 1st rd pick. We all had expectations for him. He has talent. you don't play the NHL at 18 without talent, even if it wasn't the right thing to do, he didn't get knocked on his ass as much as JT in his first season. NOT making a comparison or suggesting anything—just a statement of fact. Go pick a fight or make dumb remarks to someone else. Or have some substance to your comment instead of only indicting my opinions.

Bailey has talent, he seems to lack drive and courage. He needs to shoot a lot more and stop playing on the perimeter. Not sure if he'll figure it out here or somewhere else or maybe never. |

I'm going to predict boyle is moved to detroit tomorrow for a 6th round pick and signs a 2 year deal for 8 mil immediately afterwards.

No doubt in my mind he signs elsewhere. Snow has zero ability to sell this team to any FA's unless they are 2nd-3rd tier. Brooklyn will change that, but I just don't trust this guy to be at the helm when we move in 2 years.
Obviously, the hope is for new ownership and management by then so we shall see.
I will give Snow credit for Halak though…can't look past that one |

Halak made sense, for the player and the team and he'd talked to halaks agent. Boyle is what we could use, but not for the player. |

you're correct today, I don't know why but I'm pissed at the team more than usual at the moment. Fully expecting Boyle's rights to be traded tomorrow. Why Snow would continually deal for a player's rights without at least asking to make a quick call to the agent to see if they're open to the possibility of signing with the team just seems like throwing darts in the dark. - Isles_since_6
because the answer would always be No, oh yha and thats tampering.
If he trades for the rights he at least has a shot.

It's well within a gms rights to ask for permission to speak to the agent prior to making a trade.

Why make the trade if the answer is no? I get that snow made the 4th conditional on him signing, but I would have tried someone else without permission to speak to the agent. |

this isnt an exact science, so take it for what its worth.
-nabby started 40 games this year, he had the potential to get 80 points for the team-- he ended up with 38 pts IE 47.5%
-halak started 52 games this year, had the potential to get 104 for his team-- he ended up with 65 pts IE 62.5%
if we use those numbers and assume 65 games started for both nabby and halak this coming year (for a potential of 130 pts) based off of this past seasons results we can expect halak to get 81.25 pts and nabby to get 61.75...
based off of just that (again, not an exact science, it more gives a general idea) we can expect about 10 more wins from halak - LetsGoIsles
You have to factor in the defense that was playing in front of halak last season. I know you said its not an exact science but come on. |

Who do you want to throw money at then? I understand there's baggage with Callahan, but a second line winger who can turn our PK around? Our PK was one of our biggest weaknesses, on a team FULL OF WEAKNESSES. We have the money to do it. I think he would be great for the system and more importantly, the locker room - bjpgallagher
I don't think it's baggage- I just wonder if money is the only reason they ditched Callahan. I'm more concerned with how beat up he is than anything else, which is why I wouldn't pay him for any length of time. If you could pay him for three years, that would be the best, but he's going to get stupid money for a long time. Those contracts are never good. |

You can have Bailey when we waive him. You're not getting anyone else. |

If the rumors were true, Callahan wanted max deal of 7yrs @ $6.5M per but the Rags offered no more than 5yrs and I'm not sure about the $$$

He needs to think before he does something, a lot of the time. He's better than he used to be, but he's still not good enough. You can't have to think about what you're going to do in a sport where everyone is moving quickly on skates. Maybe having a coach who knows what he's doing will help, but for us, he's useless as a top six player. If he could learn to play defense really well, he could play with Nielsen on a third line, but other than that, I don't think he's ever going to be any better offensively than he is now. If he can't be a defensive forward, he'll have to go altogether- and if they have players who are better at it, then he also needs to go. I just don't see how we trade him; he can't possibly have any value. |

Right....no thanks...he probably won't be playing seven years from now. |
