I'm confused..that was my point. Or are you asking what else in the area would you show him? - eichiefs9
Yeah. I was kinda piling on!! But seriously - what would you show him? |

It's not that I disagree. Just saying, first impressions are a lot for people. If I grew up in Western Canada and got the "NHL player tour" from the airport to the Coliseum, I probably wouldn't want to play here either. Couple that with the general circus that goes on with the Islanders and I may say forget it. Tavares or not. - eichiefs9
I understand. Will be a little sickening though to see players all come out of the woodwork to want to play for the Isles once things turn around. Mind you I'll be thrilled if the Isles turn things around. |

Can't handle him....sounds like Miner 49er....I'd swear he was 85 years old with a beard down to his feet. and his overreactions to typical shots with that voice.... |

I can't stand his awful one liners. "He puts it backy shelf where momma hides the cookie jar" and my all time least favorite, although now irrelevant, "Pommminnvillle scoooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrres and the population in Pommin-ville has increased by 1!"
- eichiefs9
I agree. First time I heard him, I thought it was a joke. But then you realize he's a cult hero and it's kinda funny if you don't take it too seriously. For me, the guys during intermission, that Mike Robitaille tool - he's way worse, because he thinks he's smart! |

It may happen. They can easily live in the big city and play there, depending where they practice. Will it be Eisenhower? That place is awesome.
I played in Syosset last night. It's really sad. |

If Rick Jeanneret and Craig Laughlin were in the same room, I'd be under arrest just hours later.... |

Myself personally, I would never ever want to live in Nassau, save for the ridiculous North Shore towns and maybe not even then..but Garden City is nice. There's the beaches (again, I think the beaches there are sh!t, but to someone who never grew up near an ocean I guess they'd be cool), the proximity to NYC. If they could just see that they wouldn't be living in Uniondale or the Farmingdale airport area they might be more into it. |

I'm dying to play at the Twin Rinks. Iceworks is a dump and the ice sucks. |

Yeah, pleasuring yourself in public is generally looked down upon. |

That's true. My brother in law is from GC - it's very nice. Again though, it depends their situation. Married with kids, take them to Old Westbury or Brookeville, Cold Spring Harbor, etc., and that may be what they're seeking. I see Nabakov in Roslyn all the time. |

That was too funny to let go.
I only came over to comment on the Pegula thing, but that was literally the first comment I saw. |

We need more bloggers with character...
I miss the old Sabres, Kings, and Oilers blogs.
They were so much fun... |

I'm not saying the Isles should be every players' #1 choice. It's just mind boggling to me that more players would not want to play for them though. They are a year away from Brooklyn with plenty of young talent with more on the way and a possible new owner. - ses111
Imagine you are a free agent you can go anywhere... You would burn a year of that contract... 3-4-5 years to play in an arena that is substandard to most AHL arenas?

There will be a lot more people in the seats this year. The last year should be pretty special.

All true but they cannot play at the Coli for a year? These players are not smart enough to see what the Isles are building and that they should be good for years? If there was no going to Brooklyn and no JT and other young talent and prospects it would make sense to want no part of the Isles. - ses111
I dont see why Brooklyn is going to be such a huge selling point to free agents.. yes its a nicer arena to be in, then NVMC... but its not a "hockey arena", its not gonna get much national exposure on TV due to the way the inside looks during a game.. yes it will make the owner more money... thats about it.
