McKenzie just tweeted that Hemsky rejected 3yr $10M offer from OTT and will go to UFA, and that OTT will trade his UFA rights.

Nielsen is a softy too. Who cares? We can't have 12 big, bruising, slow power forwards.

I want leadership types brought in. Hemsky is not needed. I want a team build for the playoffs like the Kings.

Yea who needs secondary scoring support? Certainly not us.

Please define "leadership type" and provide an example of someone realistic you had in mind.

Scoring should not be a big issue for the Islanders. Who said Hemsky was the only option?

The Islanders were in the bottom half of the league in goals per game, and that was with the Tavares line being on absolute fire for the better part of the season.

I would say it's something that should be addressed.

Who said I wanted only Hemsky? I said I'd give him a shot, and I would.

I'd take Jussi Jokinen over Hemsky. Isles need to find a Dustin Brown type leader. KO, Lee, or Nelson will hopefully take on a leadership role.

Not a surprise with the way they played D. They got rid of Amac and started playing half way decent on D and the offense was better.

What is a Dustin Brown type leader though? I don't understand what you're looking for? We have Tavares to lead this team. We don't need two captains. We need a supporting cast that can play, not heaping piles of crap and inexperienced rookies.

I would take Jussi Jokinen too, but he's soft and isn't a leader either.

JT needs to step up his leadership. He needs to set an example by playing D and making sure his team is ready to start the season. Dustin Brown is a leader who leaves it all out on the ice and does what is needed.

Tavares doesn't leave it all on the ice every night??? He is a perfectly fine leader of this team.

JT needs to work much harder on D like he worked on his skating. I think he will be a fine leader but he needs more work.

His defense is fine. He needs to be adequate in that area, nothing more nothing less. He is here to produce at a PPG clip and be our captain. He needs zero work in the leadership department.

#Isles are bringing Greg Cronin back into the fold as an assistant coach. Had been assistant and BPT head coach previously.

Cronin, 51, spent last 3 years as Leafs assistant alongside Scott Gordon and six prior seasons as Northeastern U. head coach.

Doug Weight named assistant GM, will also remain assistant coach according to Staple. The sale to Barroway looks to be very far off with these moves
