1. It's a 5th round pick.. does it really matter?
2. Isn't this exactly what was said about Halak after he did not sign imediately?
3. We hare a MUCH better team with Halak... MUCH!! how much.. Nabby only played 39 games last year and had a winning record. when he got hurt we lost 12 of 13 games. Halak is better than Him.. no?
4. We will also have better defenders b/c Amack is gone, certainly seems like Garth is going to get someone... and our young guys are 1 year better.

So let me get this straight. Boyle said he wanted to play for a contender and then mentioned playing for the Leafs as an option?

Isles should be better than Leafs next year if we remain healthy.... this is comical

Just asking, why you say that? Besides JT the Leafs have much better players/and assets (to trade) than isles.

The Leafs are flawed as we are, but they have been able to attract & pay, just it hasn't worked out.

They do? I think the isles have better assets but they just won't trade any of them

Is it just me but I really won't be that upset if Boyle goes elsewhere. I'd like to have him but not overpay for him!

I'm fine if he doesn't sign but I have no problem over paying him for two years. It would be a perfect bridge to the young studs coming up.

off the top of my head...

Kessel, JVR, Gardiner, Phaneuf, Gunnerson, Bernier, Lupol, Franson, Bozak, MacArther are just a few good players...

U have to at least admit there D is better than ours currently???

I didn't include the kids of Reilly & Kadri bc the same goes w/kids on isles, to me not enough NHL experience

We'll see this year. I'm not sure its a slam dunk. But that's the least of the isles problems right now

When the off-season is done and see what type of team Snow assembled, I'll give my evaluation/prediction when we all discuss where/how the isles would do.

Until then & w/addition of Halak, isles are just slightly better than last year....

so instead of 5th pick maybe 7th pick

as long as it didn't preclude them from getting a free agent top 6 forward, which who knows they're going to do anyway

How can you say that? I know you've become a debbie downer in the last year or so but to say Halak over Nabby is just slightly better is absurd. Goalies were the biggest factor in them sucking last year more then the D. I'm not going to argue back and fourth over this

this isnt an exact science, so take it for what its worth.

-nabby started 40 games this year, he had the potential to get 80 points for the team-- he ended up with 38 pts IE 47.5%
-halak started 52 games this year, had the potential to get 104 for his team-- he ended up with 65 pts IE 62.5%

if we use those numbers and assume 65 games started for both nabby and halak this coming year (for a potential of 130 pts) based off of this past seasons results we can expect halak to get 81.25 pts and nabby to get 61.75...

based off of just that (again, not an exact science, it more gives a general idea) we can expect about 10 more wins from halak

We all know Halak is better than Nabby, but what we have as our D is horrible ( Carkner, Strait,), young ( Donovan, DeHaan) and cant assume what the kids are going to do???

Thats a nice last contract for a good player with health concerns. I dont think he will find that anywhere else.

There are only a few goalies that can take over games. They are playing in the finals.

Halak well he is good, is not game changing. If you have defense that consistently breaks down, a good goalie is not going to make much difference.

I have no idea what to expect from the NYI this year. Until we see what kind of moves are made at the draft/FA
