And this comparison probably sums why I don't care for Rick Nash all that much. - johndewar
Jeff Carter isn't making $7.8 Million, though. |

Honestly...yeah, kinda. They both have tremendous scoring abilities but rarely do they do something that blows you away. Yet they rack up 25-35 goals annually and are both very good 2-way players. But for the money he makes and the way his name gets tossed around, he seems very overrated to me. - jmatchett383
Neither are guys you want to hitch the wagon to... but damn if they're not handy to break a few games open with. |

We'll have to wait until David Poile gets fired, because he told Pierre LeBrun that he is never trading Shea Weber
Granted, never's a long time, but I'm thinking he isn't doing it in two weeks, either

Poile just came out again... this time more emphatically... stating he will "NEVER" trade Shea Weber.
Meanwhile, trade rumors continue to "swirl". |

Definitely guys you want to have as supporting cast, but I don't know if I'd build a team around either. |

Wow, really? I never heard him publicly come out and proclaim that. Granted, he did lie to Carter's face. |

Yep, it truly is a small slump.
There have been countless players who have been dubbed poor playoff performers after a couple of years of unfortunate play -- only to "magically" turn it around in future years.
I look at what Rick Nash has done in his career in the regular season: 336 goals and 628 total points in 783 career games (shooting 12.4%) as a truer indicator of his overall talent than to point to 40 career playoff games spread out over three different years. - bradleyc4
What he will or won't do in the future really has nothing to do with his offensive performance in this year's playoffs. I also haven't read anyone doubting his overall talent. But without a doubt he has come up small offensively in the playoffs. And even more so in this series. The Rangers chances of winning the Cup are drastically reduced without Nash scoring. Not sure if there is any kind of injury, but he looks fine to me.

It's happened to some other really good players:

Yes. The difference is, most of those players except for Seguin (unless you want to call him the equivalent of Mikael Samulesson) had past playoff success prior to these years. Nash does not have that prior playoff success to take to the bank. |

Not really. I would have thought the same if it was PhillySportsGuy.
But yes, I was implying that the money may be (not is) in return for sexual favors performed. |

Is there something more that Rick Nash can be doing out there on the ice to get more goals? I say no.
It appears that others believe he isn't doing enough.
Not sure what else he can do. That's why I take exception to his "he's come up small" in the playoffs narrative. Sometimes, no matter what you do over a period of time, the puck doesn't go in the net for you.
This isn't directed at you in particular, but it's funny how we can judge players on goals and assists without context; but when it comes to so-called "advanced" stats, they are easily dismissed because of a lack of "context." Seems hypocritical -- but mostly ignorant. |

Yes. He can shoot the puck at a location which the goalie cannot block. That's what he's paid to do, and he isn't doing it. Unless he's supposed to be a $7.8M/year mucker and grinder. That's how he's coming up small. |
