Is there something more that Rick Nash can be doing out there on the ice to get more goals? I say no.

It appears that others believe he isn't doing enough.

Not sure what else he can do. That's why I take exception to his "he's come up small" in the playoffs narrative. Sometimes, no matter what you do over a period of time, the puck doesn't go in the net for you.

This isn't directed at you in particular, but it's funny how we can judge players on goals and assists without context; but when it comes to so-called "advanced" stats, they are easily dismissed because of a lack of "context." Seems hypocritical -- but mostly ignorant.

So you think judging Nash on his offensive production based on his offensive output lacks context? How exactly? But I guess it's ignorant to look at 3 goals in 24 playoff games, and come to the conclusion that he's not scoring enough. And there's something that a lot of the "advanced stats" crowd hasn't figured out. Not all shots are created equal.
If you want to talk about his overall game, that's a different story. I think he's skating and working hard, and he's working on the defensive side of the puck. But he's not getting to the dangerous areas of the ice enough. I've watched a lot of Ranger's playoff games. And I can't recall a game where I came away saying Nash was one of the best Rangers in the game.

Yes. He can shoot the puck at a location which the goalie cannot block. That's what he's paid to do, and he isn't doing it. Unless he's supposed to be a $7.8M/year mucker and grinder. That's how he's coming up small.

I'm not sure who those people are. I'm a big Drew Doughty fan, though. Not Derek Dorsett, though, I hate that guy. If he got a career-ending (but not life-altering) injury, I would not be horribly upset.

I think it's lazy to come to that conclusion, or think that's his true talent level, or think that players have the innate ability to somehow shrink in big games (or the opposite, as with the Justin Williams narrative).

I haven't read one single statement that you've made, that has effectively refuted that Nash hasn't gotten it done offensively in the playoffs and this series. In fact statements that were made, were obviously wrong. Such as there isn't anything more he can do. I would ask why then if nobody else thinks that Nash isn't getting it done offensively, why with the Rangers having 3 PP's in game 4, Nash saw all of 7 seconds of PP time? Now this may be taking that out of context and may be an ignorant statement. But normally, top goal scorers such as Nash, that are making that kind of coin, usually see a lot of PP time. That's a pretty clear indication that the Coach thinks there is more that he can do offensively. In a elimination game in the Cup Finals no less.

It's been 24 games. He has 3 goals. I don't think there is a gray area. When I watch him play, I don't see him getting into the scoring areas or around the net enough. If he would do that more, he would have better "luck".
