If they have any chance of turning their franchise around, they should trade him this summer of the next. - SuperSchennBros
They don't have to though. They could trade Jones for a package of skill forwards and focus their drafting on offense for once. That packaged with their current D group and goalie wont make them the best team in the West or anything but it should get them into the playoffs.
The fact they did something as drastic as bringing in Lavi( that is a complete 180 from Trotz) tells me they are finally going to change some things in Nashville. |

I dont understand why it can't be a combination of being unlucky and his unwillingness to drive the net and get into better scoring position. I believe this is called a "grey area" - PhillySportsGuy
I've seen Nash make a couple power movea to the net with a defender on his back but no dice. It's not an easy move to pull off but he's trying. |

What if this announcer and Doc Emerick switched places for one game? It would be interested to hear a British guy call a hockey game. - PhillySportsGuy

That must have been great. Did they have a full understand of the game or was it just two guys trying their best at a sport they didn't know very well? |

Trading Jones in favor of Weber to me is not thinking long term. If Seth Jones becomes Drew Doughty and you trade Weber to Edmonton for any of those former first rounders, you're heading in a much more positive direction. |

Weber has another 10 years of All Star level play left. I don't see why they can't just focus more on drafting and signing forwards. |

I don't think that Jones would get nearly the return that Weber would get. I think Jones would get a combination of top prospects and picks, rather then a package of established NHL skilled forwards.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Sure, Weber is older but it's not like he's 35. Right now, between the two, I'm trading Jones. |

They can. But there are the financial aspects. Paying all that money while they wait to draft and develop players. Free Agency would obviously be quicker. But there again the financial aspects come into play.

I don't think anyone can honestly say Weber will be just as effective at age 39 as he is now at 29. |

Whether it will actually be true or not, well that's a good question. |

Reminiscent of Crosby getting smacked by a linesman and pulling a Carcillo whiplash move.

They can take a stab at several international and college FAs by giving them a real good chance of playing bigger minutes.
They do have some offensive talent in their system. Even if they didn't, they can start drafting more forwards now. They look pretty set on defense for the next 5-10 years. |
