i became a season ticket holder that year and witnessed the ride in person. it was glorious. game 6 is by far the greatest live flyers game i ever attended, and i've been to some great ones, including game 5 against the habs in 2010 when they advanced to the final. i am actually visible in the stands for a brief moment just above the zamboni tunnel where they celebrate gagne's ot goal.

that playoff run was something else. they should have won.

The Lindros team in '97 was the toughest for me. To vanquish the Rangers with Messier and Gretzky in the ECF and looking at Mike Vernon in goal for Detroit, I was pretty confident. That ride came to an abrupt and ugly ending.

i will forever hate tampa, especially msl, br, and fredrick (frank)ing modin who scored the series winning goal. cripes, i'm getting angry just thinking about this.

Your right, Detroit just shut them down. They ran through the Rangers in 5 games I believe. That Rangers team was stacked, but Detroit just gave them nothing. Clarke never could get the pieces to get the team over the hump.

I really thought the Flyers got a steal at the time getting Mike Comrie. I think there was stretch in January where it was Gagne-Comrie-Justin Williams on a line and I just thought that was going to be their future.

I was sad to see Williams go but I was ok getting Markov in return. That was a great team.
