My OCD is so bad that I just corrected "hear" to "heart" in a post and all the posts that quoted it.

Let me go find a "fail" sign for you to wear around you're neck due to that level of OCD.

Yes, that was intentional in there

Jan, you sure are alot faster to post blogs after a win than a loss.

Not intentional, I do use time to write with clarity rather than letting emotion take over. Sometimes it depends on my schedule, but not saying only after wins I post early and losses late.

people like andrest seem to troll a lot quicker when the Rangers lose than when the Rangers win as well

Advance stats guys support you on this. And as I said a few of the guys I follow with advance stats go as far as saying Stralman should have gotten Girardi's contract based on their analysis.

People asked if Stralman's stats are largely based on Staal helping him and actually Stralmans numbers improve when not paired with Staal and Staal's numbers go into the toilet when not paired with Stralman.

Four great pieces on this:

From May 23 (Tyler Dellow):
http://www.mc79hockey.com...ton-stralman-secret-star/

From May 30: http://www.wingingitinmot...fa-targets-anton-stralman

From June 3:
http://www.jewelsfromthec...al-preview-the-defensemen

From today (Tyler Dellow, same columnist as first link): http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...chpin-of-rangers-d-corps/

In summary from the final column:
The Rangers did better at 5v5 with Stralman on the ice than they did with any other defenceman. And their best pairing was Stralman-McDonagh, not McDonagh-Girardi. Staal did worse with Girardi than he did with Stralman, which leads to a reasonable inference that Stralman is pretty valuable: he seems to have a big impact on his team’s Corsi% when he’s on the ice.

I hope NY can re-sign him, but as said in first comment, he may deserve Girardi money. Even if not, a big bump over the three years, $9 mil offered. Think four and maybe 16-18 based on performance and need for solid second pair d-men in the league.

one thing "Corsi" doesn't show, and that's a player on the ice bleeding from his face yet still out there every shift no matter what

Dan Girardi is having a tough finals against an insanely talented team, but I am thankful we have him, probably the most durable defenseman in the NHL

As far as puck luck goes, it isn't enough to get a bounce in your favor, or a broken stick; you still need to capitalize on the fortuitous opportunities when they arise. Take the St. Louis goal for example; yes, Step's stick broke and the pass/shot intended for Kreider didn't get to him and instead hit the defender in front of the net. However that's not a goal unless Kreider and St. Louis are both going hard to the net. Kreider took the defender with him and St. Louis was all alone on the left post.

Same with Brown's goal. Yes, Girardi's stick broke leading to the breakaway but Brown had to still beat Hank for the goal.

The first puck that stopped on the line; that's going to be a goal unless Stralman comes in and clears it off the line. The second; Step smartly slides the puck under Hank.
This is about as good an explanation to "puck luck" as there is.
Over the course of a seven game series, The "luck" gets spread pretty equal. It's the "finish" that sometimes isn't so equal.

Not only do you have to make your own luck in this sport but you have to be able to take advantage when the puck does bounce your way. The Kings had done a great job of that through three games and the Rangers were better last night in that regard. Here's hoping the puck continues to bounce our way and that the Rangers can continue to take advantage of it.

Most Durable Defensemen to go with the Iron Man Forward Derek "I only miss games when Prust breaks my jaw" Stepan.

I've been saying "eh let him walk" for awhile. I'm quickly changing my mind. He is making a Richards buy out even more likely because I'm not sure we can let Strahlman go

That's unfortunate that this series has been more about puck luck rather than players beating the goalie 1 on 1.

I actually like it, those 2 goal line pucks made me crap my pants. Makes for exciting hockey. Skill, hard work and luck, its hockey.

Jesus, as a fan of NYR, feel like Lundqvist until last night hasn't had the puck luck. Some great bounces for the Kings. Hopefully Hank can stand on his head 3 more times!

Exactly. I want a Richards buyout, and distribute his money for raises to Stralman, Moore, Kreider, Poulliot, Brassard, Boyle and Zucc. Hopefully there'd be like $3M left over to sign a center ice replacement for the 3rd line. And Boom keep this team together.

Think keeping Stralman needs to be a priority.

Once you go down 3-0 in a series, I think it is only natural that you give up hope (at least if your not lying to yourself), and the games become a little less stressful. But, then you win a game, and then you want to win the next game, and the next game, etc., etc. Right now, I just want the Rangers to get this back to the Garden for Game 6, and if that occurs, I will start to consider the possibilities. I would like to say that I'm optimistic, but I wasn't greatly encouraged how the Rangers played in the second half of last night's game. They got the win, but they are going to have to play better than that, to get this back to New York.

This is exactly how I felt in the Pens series. I didn't jump up and down like a mad man for game 5. I just kinda watched. Then Game 6. I got a little excited at each goal. and game 7 it was full blown madness again. Same here.

If Rangers carry their first period efforts across 60 min last 4 games we'd be 3-1...... Gotta play a full 60. And I'm with you. I will consider the possibilities if they win tomorrow. But for tomorrow's sake, I will enjoy the ride as if it's the last cup game I'll see them play in my lifetime.

Someone brought this up earlier, it seemed bc of the BR demotion that the Rangers bench was shortened a little more than usual. I wonder if AV goes back to the previous lines. I do think we can expect the Rangers to play well b/c they do play better on the road and I do think there is something to do their resiliency level. I think both teams just don't die easily. The pressure is still squarely on the Rangers, but get one more and perhaps the Kings start to feel it a little bit.

Crazy, one side of me was happy they won, the other side had me so mad they couldn't get out of their zone for a period. They try to sit back on a lead like that again, series is over. Granted I'm sure it wasn't all the Rangers sitting back, LA deserves credit for killing it in the 3rd.

I want to view this as we did the Pens. Just get 3 man. I wouldn't even think about 4. Because if they win 3... who wouldn't sign up for a winner take all game. How you got there doesn't matter. Just win 2 more.
