No way some one offers the Sens mmore that Sharp , Leddy and a high pick for Spezza
The Hawks top 6 would be dominant .
The Power Play would improve .
This would allow the Hawks to keep their top 4 D intact .
In fact I'm open and hopeful for a Sharp Leddy for any top 6 center . |

Kane has had prolonged dry spells playing alongside the best center in the game.
I would argue that while Kane is electrifying, and often times provides the only scoring we need in a game... we need Toews more.
When Kane doesn't score he's a liability. When Toews or Hossa doesn't score they still keep the puck 200 feet from their net. - busmaster
The liability stuff on Kane is overstated....He has the puck on his stick in the offensive zone and can create more than any player on the team. Seldom does he turn pucks over in a dangerous area although he often controls the puck.
Toews and Hossa are also 1st ballot HOF players but they can't create goal scoring opportunities like Kane although they can play a 200 ft game and are great, complete players.

They're both really the faces of the franchise, I agree they'll get the same deal.
If Crosby (#87) has a cap hit of $8.7 million, will Kane (#88) have a cap hit of $8.8 million? That would be awesome, but I think it will be higher. - DarthKane
That's the neighborhood where they could give the Hawks a hometown discount. While on the face it is better than Crosby's number, Cindy's deal is older and therefore still a bit better relatively. Given the fast rise in salaries (with the cap), they should pass Cindy's number by more than that. Perhaps they'll settle for just beating it by a bit. We'll find out on "Hockey Christmas"... |

I like Sharp, but I'm more than happy with Okposo. I'd like to see Sharp in an Isles uniform, but we have bigger needs than wingers. - eichiefs9

fatty you have touched on a good point. After CC who is our backup. Raanta is due a contract. Do you ink him or bring in a 2 million+ backup? As for butts in seats. The Kane/Towes marketing blitz combined with television did that. It was like tearing down the wall in Germany economy wise. - Cup-Bearer
Raanta doesn't have much leverage unless he wants to play overseas. But whether he plays in Chgo, which he will press for, or plays in Rockford he likely doesn't stay to make $70k per season. |

Which is why I don't understand why people are so up in arms about NEEDING to trade everyone but 19 and 88. Sure there are needs, but the organization has done a great job drafting and developing. Future is still very bright; 2 cups with a young core and more late May/June games to come.
In somewhat related news, what's the asking price for Spezza? I don't ask as a Hawks fan, just general curiosity. |

When has Kane played alongside of Toews for a long time? - Elbows15
This would be a good time for our stat-head buddy, Rollie, to re-appear with some facts on this point. I don't think they've played on the same line very often in several years. PP, yes and sporadic shifts, too, but not regular shifts for sure. |

Its ridiculous, Al. Kane has improved his overall game so much since he came into the league, the old narrative is laughable. |

Why is everyone so willing and eager to trade Sharp? 78 points this year. That's a lot and he plays defense somewhat. I'd also be willing to bet he was hurt in the playoffs. |

It really is laughable. The guy has got to be the scariest guy with the puck in the league. He keeps adding to his game each year, which is impressive given his status in the game. He is a winner and a great player.
In other words, I agree. |

Because he is a valuable winger and we have wingers . TT is.going to be an NHL wing . Use Sharpsvalue to get a rreal top 6 center. That's why. |

His swing looked good during batting practice at Wrigley right after the season. I don't think everyone is eager to trade him. Willing is perhaps a better word, and it is because he's a real asset nearing the end of his prime and they have a possible replacement available in-house. And others are less trade-able. Just my take. |

Maybe it's a soft spot for Sharp in my eyes. In related news, is Shaw an option at C long term in your eyes? |

He was miserable from February on.
If he was hurt, it wasn't badly enough to miss out on taking batting practice at Wrigley 3 days after the season ended.
And he's a Richard. |

The Blues, Ducks, Sharks, and Kings are not likely going to be standing pat. Stan will, and needs to Improve the team whenever possible. |

The problem for the Kessler, Spezza, Pleks is w you lose. If Sharp is moved it will be at the trade deadline I just don't see you trading your leading scorer as an option. - Cup-Bearer
Sharp was the leading scorer by default this season, if Kane hadn't missed the last 13 games of the regular season it'd be a different story.
What this playoff season showed me is that this team can win while getting close to nothing from Patrick Sharp.
Trading him at the TDL isn't really a good option, you don't want to mess with chemistry that far into a season. Waiting until next offseason would put the Hawks in a position where the return would be less than what they could get now.
There just isn't any perfect solution out there for the Hawks.

If he was miserable from February on, I'd love to have October - January of not miserable. 78 points is a lot to be miserable for the last two/three months of the season.
I don't disagree with his Richard-ness. |

Not in an ideal world.
Shaw is an ideal 3/4 wing . If he was.a center I'd rather our centers were Toews-new guy-kruger-new guy or Shaw. |
