Sharp and Seabrook are redheaded step kids here...Underappreciated and both are highly valued other places. That's my take from doing NHL radio for the past 8 years. Both are very popular up North. - Al
I don't think they're under appreciated here - maybe Sharp is in some circles, but not in general.
And with Sharp - as Mo said - the trade talk comes from his being the only real trade able large contract, not from any strong desire to see him go (mostly). |

I guess you're not here to actually read, pucker..... have a good one.... - mohel
Stop, I just can't understand how much the guy is getting trashed, Wirtz trashed Roenick & Amonte, (that's what I mean), they were awesome players!

Nothing against Hossa at all, but given the choice I take Sharp, (he reminds me of another guy that was under appreciated), Tony Amonte. Very similar skill set. - puckhead17
Except for the fact Amonte was taken off the puck by a leisurely breeze. |

Man, the Bill Wirtz era is long gone, now point per game snipers, are replaceable. - puckhead17
Never been a PPG player, not once. This past year was the closest he's come, and then he disappeared when it mattered most. |

All good! Was riding with the boss today so didn't catch the match. Had appt.'s otherwise he's a big soccer fan.
How about you?
I skipped a lot of the back reading; did we figure out the Tampa player? Count Flipula? - HawkintheD
No consensus on who the Tampa player might be. A real mystery. Some thought on the Count, but visitors from Tampa laughed at that. |

Thank you!!
That's what's confusing me, (like I stated earlier, it seems Wirtz is back), the way he bashed, & shipped off Roenick & Amonte, makes no sense. |

There are several posts that explain the whole rationale, and you've chosen to ignore them and instead have chosen the "getting trashed" meme. Lazy. I know he's cute and everything.... |

They are at 5.8 per, nearing the less productive side of their career, coming off a playoff performance where we needed him to show up before game 7 of the WCF, you have his potential replacement (Saad), has a tradable contract and you can still get value for him.
Plus there was that thing where he wouldn't share his tots with Kane.
After the purge of '10 I think there's a few of us here who don't want to see any more Ladd for Ivan Vishnievsky type deals. |

You just agreed with nonsense. Neither one is a redhead stepchild here, most people love both of them. If you're looking for the resident whipping boy, see Crawford, Corey. |

I don't underestimate either but both are thought of more in other cities than here...That's what I have noticed and have thought that way for awhile.

Sharp's better than Amonte and Roenick was traded in his prime albeit after a knee injury that probably meant he was never quite the same player again.
The Hawks have big money tied up in 4 fwds they've identified as core players and only one's a center. Toews/Kane going nowhere, Hossa untradable contract and still has gas in the tank. Sharp tradable. |

Both are underappreciated compared to how highly they are thought of other places especially in Canada....Kane-Toews- Hossa-Keith-Hammer and then Sharp-Seabrook.
Take my word for it both are highly valued by other markets more so than here...
No doubt Crawford is a whipping boy but that's another category... |

Maybe you should go look at cap geek. Check out those cap hits on the Staals. - Elbows15
14.2 mil coming in
14.6 mil going out
depth going to be rounded out with cheaper guys like rasmussen, rundblad, and morin
itd be close, but totally doable with the cap rise |

You do know there's this thing called a salary cap right? And you realize that this salary cap forces teams to prioritize their salary structure, and sometimes get rid of someone that would ideally be retained?
No one is suggesting shipping off Sharp for a bag of pucks. If he goes it has to be for a legit 2C.

I remember his production dipped badly after the trade, (didn't realize it was a knee injury that had something to do with it).
Hossa is a 2 way beast, I understand, I guess time will tell what Sharp can bring in.
