Doesn't it figure Tretiak was scouted by Maple Leaf Jim Gregory who came back and told the Canadian players that he, Tretiak, couldn't stop a beachball .... OOOOPPS!!!! Seems the Leafs' scouting has always sucked. - paulr
How good could Tretiak have been - he was replaced after the first period in the Miracle on Ice game.

Never know they have a log jam up the middle. Druin probs plays this year. Maybe oduya and Clendenin? - fattybeef
They're trying to win now, I think, so the kid doesn't help much. Maybe Oduya plus, but Kilorn is pretty valuable. I can see them dealing from their strength, but there will be a market for him. |

How does trading Oduya make the Hawks better? Who replaces his minutes against QoC he faces? |

He could be a decent option and Stan likely wouldn't have to give up too much. Still holding out for Neilsen. - DarthKane
He's 24, has pretty good size and offensive stats. And there's not a ton of young centers like that available, so I'm guessing the tab will be fairly high. |

That's pretty much what he said verbatim on a bio piece I watched on the NHL channel. - Beaver-Warrior
Back in those days, most of the players were Canadian kids who may or may not have gone to high school. Most of them never got past Grade 9. So, they were a pushover went it came to negotiating salaries at the pro level without agents.
Phil also told the story of his last day in school in Sarnia, Ontario. His junior team played a game on the road and they got home at 4:00 a.m. Next morning he had an English exam and fell asleep during the test. He nun who was the teacher told him to wake up and answer the questions. He wrote "I don't know nothing" and walked out and never went back. Just played hockey for $10 -$15 a week. That's pretty much the way it was for junior hockey players - it was make the NHL or get some dead end job if they didn't. |

Gamble on Leddy. He takes the step or he doesn't. I think he figures it out, especially after 300+ games gotta step up to the plate at some point.
Can't be worse than Voynov or Martinez... |

They (the best of them) were signed by NHL teams at 11/12 and assigned to junior teams far away from home. |

That's what it would be. I'd rather not gamble unless it is necessary, and I don't believe it is. |

It was all pretty sad in a lot of ways but was a way out for them...
1st their parents would get ramrodded by signing over their kids rights for a ham sandwich and a bowl of soup before their son reached puberty.

7 and 8 are fine as a second pairing with Rozy and kids anchoring the third if it rounds off the 3rd and 4th lines. Or provides the flexibility to do so.
I dont think having cake and eating it is possible here. Something has to give. |

Then I'd go another route. We'll have to disagree on that. |

Three of the six - old or unproven - not the best way to start a season for a team expected to win now. |

Sage, I always here about the Heat being so good. I haven't watched a game in a couple years, but I'm watching tonight. What the heck is going on? Heat down 19 at the half. |

Eh. Its now or never for Leddy. And I think he steps up. If not he needs to be moved this summer. I'd rather see experienced youth than an aging veteran. But its a valid argument. |
