Possibly Filpulla with some retained salary?
Former Wing, knows the puck-possession style the Hawks play. If you can get Filpulla at $4M that's not a bad option. - Hawksfan37
Yeah getting filps straight is hard enough let alone with 20% retained cap.. |

I feel like people are missing the forest for the trees with Spezza. Sure he has some warts and sure he's not EVERYTHING we need (big, tough) but he's a world class player. A second line of Saad-Spezza-Kane is freaking scary as hell. Get grit and size elsewhere. - RomanF
I agree...my major Spezza concern is his health. The guy seems to be at that point in his career where his body is starting to break down.
But if healthy...the guy can light it up. |

If they bring in a $5MM skater now - even for Sharp, say - they still would have to lose at least one core player next year, when the new contracts (Toews, Kane, Saad, Kruger, Leddy, etc.) kick in. - StLBravesFan
How do you know that? There are two major facts unknown (and many minor ones, too). You don't know the cap hit of the Twins, and you don't know what the cap will be. Tough to be so certain without that info. |

True.. But what im saying is put him in between Kane and Saad and im sure he'll play consistent. They will definitely make Eller a better player |

I just don't see Tampa as a fit. The ones I like, they wouldn't trade. I still like Toronto and the Habs. I hope they look into Columbus. I think Colombus has a few nice pieces to try for |

He'd be a wonderful addition, provided TB wants to trade him.
Honestly, I don't think Bowman would pay the price it would take to have another team retain salary on a player. |

The fact that the new CBA allows $ retained in any trade is great for GM's, but it has increased the stupidity level of some of the posts on here to an all time high, which is ironic, since I didn't think some of these posts could get any crazier.
Let's recap...
- Vancouver is NOT eating half of Kesler's salary
- Ottawa will not just give Spezza away
- Filppula isn't coming to us on a discount. |

They either go this offseason or next. Get a center to play with Kane, and fill the D with some Rock kids. |

I think the Hawks are going to get a "2C" whether by trade or FA and I think Plex is one of the possible names.

Cap will be 70-71 this year.
May go up 6 million tops for the 2015-16 year. No higher.
So 77 is best case scenario. Probably closer to 76.
With that said, cap hell part deux is real. Wonder why the beat writers haveint addressed this?
I bet at the Hawks convention depending upon how LARGE those 19/88 AAVs turned out, you will hear a TON of hype for some prospects to start to get the masses excited..... |

I think Snap it Upstairs has the number....8 years for 75 million.
70 million for 8 could be the low point, but that would be a steal for Bowman.
70-75 for 8 is the range...closer to 75 if I had a gun held to my head. |
