Sharp and Leddy - mrpaulish
If that is who is ultimately jettisoned after NEXT season to accommodate the raises for 19 and 88, maybe they fast forward that plan by a year and clear the room for Spezza who only has one year left on his deal.....and maybe that is why the Kesler deal doesn't work (2 years left on his deal) |

I think the Hawks are going to get a "2C" whether by trade or FA and I think Plex is one of the possible names. - John Jaeckel
What are you hearing about toronto? Anything new? What players? |

Only if Tampa throws in a 1st and retains 50% of Stamkos' salary. - DarthKane

Doesn't surprise me on Kesler.
Hoping Bowman is looking elsewhere. They need more then just a bottom 6 forward IMO.
Wonder if Philly is where Kesler will land. - SteveRain
Wonder if Bowman could trade Sharp back to Philly for Kesler if that's where he ends up? |

Zack Smith would be a very nice addition, have watched him since jr and hes a good Saskatchewan boy something the hawks need. and his cap hit is very nice. - SaskHawkFan
JJ mentioned Ottawa and Tampa as potential trade partners. Ottawa would offer more that fits our needs IMO. Smith, Greening, Turris...all good choices. |

Tampa Bay centers I would enjoy to see are Johnson, Killorn, and Thompson. I don't think the Hawks need a Nate Thompson type player. He has skill and is responsible two ways but not exactly a perfect ideal fit, especially since Shaw, Kruger, Nordstrom and maybe one other Rockford guy can hold down centering the bottom two lines. Tyler Johnson is a Calder Trophy guy and had a good year. Killorn also had a pretty descent year. I think if the Hawks are moving from Kesler they should make a descent offer for Spezza. Sharp, prospect and mid round for Spezza with Ottawa splitting the difference on the salary and a conditional pick. Make the condition something like 3rd Round pick, drops to a 5th if he resigns with the hawks, 1st round if he doesn't. Obviously Bowman and Murray can fight over that but lets start there. If Oduya gets moved, move him to Florida with Kevin Hayes and the Hawks first with another Rockford guy for Florida's first and take Aaron Ekblad. Kid is an absolute monster. 53 points last season and second player ever to be granted exceptional status in the OHL. - erhryck
So Florida is going to give up the 1st overall pick for Oduya, a guy the Hawks don't have signed, the 27th pick and a Rockford guy??
Yea...that offer wouldn't get them laughed out of the room. |

I'm going by articles I have read by guys in the know who have been dead nuts on the cap numbers in the past. He said 6 million increase next year. Even at 10%, they are still up against a wall.
We'll see what happens after July 1, but I think more then just Sharp OR Oduya will be going. I think it will be 2, maybe even 3. - SteveRain
Okay, but I'll wait until the sky begins to fall before beginning to panic. Stan has earned by trust in this area. |

What would you guys think of trading :
Sharp to the Islanders for the 5th overall pick and a prospect in return? Especially if Reinhart is still on the board... |

how'd that work out in the playoffs? Bollig is a joke I'd rather have any 4th liner from NYR or LA - EnzoD
Almost everybody made mistakes in the playoffs, hell Seabrook got a suspension for God's sake. Go watch iceskating if a more demuire sport is to your taste |

Are you Charles Wong?
If so, we need more. Tavares and the #5 for Sharp. |

I don't disagree. Just pointing it out.
July 1st the pieces of that puzzle for next year start to come together a LOT better. We will be able to tell.
For the record, I hate the cap. It's damn near impossible to have a long championship run in a cap era. Your margin for error is miniscule. Kings and Hawks deserve some praise. Penguins have shown what NOT to do. |

Trading our franchise and the number 5 overall for a guy that the hawks are looking to dump for cap relief... You should be a GM bro!! |

If they bring in a $5MM skater now - even for Sharp, say - they still would have to lose at least one core player next year, when the new contracts (Toews, Kane, Saad, Kruger, Leddy, etc.) kick in. - StLBravesFan
IMO the Hawks will not be dealing with Leddy on a new contract - someone else will. The others - yes! |
