Have you ever considered Nielsen as a possible target for a trade?

No, but I like the idea. Tell me more...

So - you have no confirmable basis for your suppositions - basically, just your opinion.

No problem with that.

Unless you present it as provable fact.

Which you did.

- StLBravesFan

No I used logic.... Try it some time.

If there is a poor guy and a millionaire and they both want the same house - who do you think will get the house?

Same situation here.

The Hawks have more than other teams, hence more to offer without destroying their team.

IMO, Benning doesn't want to move Kesler, and he probably made an insane proposal to the Hawks for Kesler like Kane straight up or Sharp and a 1st for Kesler, and Bowman probably laughed.

Bowman is a pretty conservative and patient GM - I'm sure he will wait until the right deal comes. I'm similar to Bowman in that aspect. I have plenty of time and I wouldn't pull a knee-jerk trade like Burke - that is a good way to ruin a franchise... I'm sure Bowman is exploring all options, however at the moment he is dealing with limited cap space and he needs to get Toews, Kane and Saad extended and IMO, moving Sharp over a slug like Bickell would be the wrong move.

IMO, if he cant workout a deal for Kesler or Thronton @ 50% then he will look at the UFA market to find a 2nd line center and trade a few players for picks/prospects to get the cap space to do so. I'm thinking Rozy for sure and Bickell @ 4 per is insanity - if he can get a 1st round pick for him then you jump all over that or a decent prospect.

However - without question Kesler is at the top of his list.

Yes. Like DK typed. Friday for round one and the rest on Saturday.
- Elbows15

It will be pretty cool for the Hawks since they'll have all their own picks in addition to all of VAN's picks from the Kesler trade as per Tazer.

Alex Killorn!!!! Please!!
- FourOrr

I have maybe seen all of a few shifts of Killorn. I noted his name was given in a trade rumor. But it is Johnson, the rookie, plus one other whom I was hoping may be a physical winger. Would you consider Sharp for Johnson plus ? As a way to get a center, reduce salary cap, and still leave open the possibility of moving either Oduya or Leddy?

He is from the european hockey power Denmark. Plays for the Islander. Just had a career year at 30. Islander fans think he is worth the moon and stars. Pretty good on FO. Personally, Leddy and a 1st should do it.

I have not seen enough of Kilorn or any of Johnson to know if that's a good move. What's your take J?

It is an incredibly good beer, D. The best stout I have ever had. Smoother than the Guiness sold in Ireland. Check it out if you are a beer guy.

I am not sure anymore. There was another proposal which traded most of them away. They all are starting to blur together.

I thought you were talking about Regin for a moment there...

He's 30, Leddy and a 3rd. Didn't Oduya arrive in return for a 2nd and 4th?

The Islanders will not give Nielsen up without a significant offer - the offer would be close to something for kesler minus a prospect or pick.

I call that splitting hairs.

Spezza, Thornton or Kesler are the best options if we can get them at a reduced cap hit.

We are all clear Killorn isn't a center. right? Maybe plays there some but he isn't very good at FO. At by percentages. Looks like a bigger version of Shaw to me. Not that is a bad thing.

Ogie won't like him.

Well, an adult wouldn't just flat out deny a trade proposal and call it delusional - at least not a proposal like that...
- Tazer19

Actually, yes, because Calgary is not giving up a lottery pick for the package you suggested. That is delusional. Rozy is done, could be bought out by the Hawks if he doesn't retire. Rundbland is a mystery and on his, what, 4th organization and hasn't been able to even crack a rotation as a 7th dman. Hayes has value but makes little sense for the Hawks to trade him away in a package for only a draft pick. He's a big body winger we need, although he might not be up here next season, only time will tell.

Plus, why does Vancouver eat half of Kesler's cap hit? There is a huge market for him, unlike when they were shopping Luongo. There should be no need to retain a cap hit for them.

Kesler might fit in here well but it's just not going to happen.

I guess without context. It is. I was messing with another poster.

Nielsen is barely worth Leddy. And I don't care for Leddy.

I hear Phaneuf is available. Try the Leaf thread.

Man I have a 3-way deal that would clear close to 10 million in cap

To Chicago
Kessler @50% retained

To Vancouver
TT
Bickell
2014 1st Round Pick Chicago
2015 1st Round Pick Calgary

To Calgary
Rozy
Rundblad
Hayes rights (worth a 2nd round pick by de facto)

That deal would save the Hawks nearly 10 million in cap space + get us Kesler at 2.75 per.

I don't want to deal TT but this deal is fair and the savings on the cap are amazing for the Hawks.

Of course Haws fans don't like the deal because they think Bickell is God and strangely enough would rather trade Sharp over Bickell.

- Tazer19

You know if you sweetened the deal a little and threw in a midrange prospect and a 2nd round pick I bet Vancouver would eat 75% of Kesler's salary.

Heard he's pretty good too. I wonder if the Isles will will retain 75+% of his cap hit and pay for his dental for Carruth and their pick of the Broadhursts...
