No I used logic.... Try it some time.

...I'm thinking Rozy for sure and Bickell @ 4 per is insanity - if he can get a 1st round pick for him then you jump all over that or a decent prospect.

- Tazer19

So now you're suggesting they trade away Bickell for a first round pick? You do know the object is to win the Cup? Did you watch the playoffs? Bickell shows up for the playoffs. His mediocre regular season isn't as important, he was also coming off a bad knee injury he played through in the playoffs a year ago, coupled with another knee injury this season. He strapped on the foil though for the playoffs and showed up. He's also one of only 2-3 big, physical players on the Hawks, along with Seabrook and games when Bollig decides to do what he's paid for. They need more guys like Bickell, not less, and certainly not to deal them for a draft pick that may or may not be a decent player in 5 years when Hossa, Sharp, Seabrook, Keith, etc. have either declined, retired, or left.

You know if you sweetened the deal a little and threw in a midrange prospect and a 2nd round pick I bet Vancouver would eat 75% of Kesler's salary.
- paulr

And if they threw in Handzus, Vancouver would just keep Kesler altogether.

You have never seen Leddy play. He is a Duncan Keith clone. Skates like the wind. Smart as a whip. No, no, really a whip. And you think you can get more than him for a slightly better version of Peter Regin?

Please. Go make trades with the Leaf thread. They are giving Phaneuf away.

Honestly don't know if he is even available? But I could see Frans being moved for the right package or player.....
I think some here are under-evaluating what Frans is?

Actually, yes, because Calgary is not giving up a lottery pick for the package you suggested. That is delusional. Rozy is done, could be bought out by the Hawks if he doesn't retire. Rundbland is a mystery and on his, what, 4th organization and hasn't been able to even crack a rotation as a 7th dman. Hayes has value but makes little sense for the Hawks to trade him away in a package for only a draft pick. He's a big body winger we need, although he might not be up here next season, only time will tell.

Plus, why does Vancouver eat half of Kesler's cap hit? There is a huge market for him, unlike when they were shopping Luongo. There should be no need to retain a cap hit for them.

Kesler might fit in here well but it's just not going to happen.

- Hemingways

I never even said the 2014 Calgary pick - I said the 2015, furthermore Kesler would be a perfect fit - a bit perplexing but certainly a good fit. Rundblad I don't care much for - saw nothing special in him despite the fact that many hockey fans covet him, and Hayes wants out of Chicago because he wants to play in the NHL and it's not going to happen here in Chicago, however Calgary has lots of interest in Hayes because of his "college line" which they already have two of, and they will certainly give him an opportunity to play in the NHL just like Jimmy in Florida - he is also worth a 2nd round pick to whoever holds his rights and if he doesn't sign.

As far as Kesler - there really isn't a huge market for him - he has a NMC/NTC which limits him to choose 7 or 8 teams he would be willing to accept a trade to, and that kinda puts Benning in handcuffs.... Obviously if Benning could deal with all 30 teams the situation would be different but he's dealing with 7 teams and Chicago is at the top of his list (at least rumored).

So Benning can only really deal with 7 teams when it comes to Kesler.

I don't recall the teams but when I read them I remember thinking that none even need a first or 2nd line center. Now I know Kesler can also play wing as well but - not many needed wingers either.

And why eat half his salary? for one he only has two years left on his deal and because you give up an extra pick or prospect to make it happen. Especially when the Hawks could use cap space - which they will get with the cap going up and Bowman trading Rozy and hopefully Bickell,

You have some good points, I can't understand why no one agrees with you? I think the Canucks would eat at least 50% of Kesler's salary to make sure they don't run into the same problems they did with Schnieder and Luongo.
