Does Skinner play center at all? natural shooter, reminds me of a young Sharpie..not many "exciting" players on the Canes. would love Jordan Staal but no cap relief there. Its fun to speculate though |

I am really reluctant to deals where our younger players (Leddy, Shaw) get moved for older players.
Reasons:
-team becomes older
-depth becomes depleted
-incoming players are short term
Question:
If Leddy is not quite dependable enough on D, why hasn't anyone thought of him on wing??? - 67hawks
I would think that Leddy on wing is a non starter. Q has shown no hesitance to use D on wing, yet never tried it with Leddy. If it were ever going to happen, I think it would have by now. |

When it comes to guys like Spezza and Kesler, it's not about their contracts, its about what Stan gives up to get them. Depth is already an issue, so it doesn't make sense to weaken our depth even more to get one of these guys. - DarthKane
I read on one of these posts that one of either Leddy or Oduya might need to move..... I know Ottawa was big on Hjalmarsson in the past and B. Murray wants a gritty fwd.
pieces can be added to either side on this, but the main structure could be:
To Chicago - Spezza + Weircoch
To Ottawa - Hjalmarsson + Bickell

JJ,
Is this your "im not going to tell you its Filipula but it really is" discussion?
Does Leddy and a 2nd get that deal done?
Or TT and a 2nd? |

thanks JJ. if the Hawks could get Johnson and purcell from Tampa as well as Smith and Greening. from Ottawa that is a lot of speed, skill, and big bodies (excluding Johnson)

Tyler Johnson? - SUDA88
Yeah he s the only 1 I can think of. I can't see them trading him. It won't be stamkos or druin. I like Brett connolly. He has been more wing than center, though. I still like eiither eller or anisimov |

I am looking forward to this off season. Whether Stan does a big more or small move I think he will surprise us. |

This is why I don't think a deal with Chicago will get done for Spezza or Kesler. It's fair to ask for Hammer and Bickell, but it would never happen. |

While Bickell's contract is far from ideal, I don't see any way they trade Hammer away with that sweetheart deal that he signed. Hjalmarsson would probably be top pairing on at least 20 teams and is being paid like a #4 for the next several years. That and the below current market value contracts of Keith and Seabrook give the Hawks a lot of flexibility while keeping their top D intact. |

Frans Nielsen is so under-rated its insane.
Honestly, the return would have to be Saad + 2105 1st round pick or Sharp + 2015 2nd round pick. - kcNYI

If Kesler is healthy the line of Kane-Kesler-Saad could be absolutely disgusting, but look at his health over the past couple years...not so good.
If Kane says he wants a solid pivot it has to be for someone that is going to be here for awhile in order to make sure we lock in #88 for a long term contract. |

Couldn't possibly be Stamkos.
Valteri Filppula would be fantastic though. |

Kesler would be awesome.
The Hawks would swallow teams whole .
In any series Kesler line or Toews line could double up as a shut down line. |

Either that, or he is Nielsen's agent (or Garth Snow) |
