I would be content with that, we need leadership. - benny948
I personally would love to have Ott back. Haters can bugger off.. But I have a feeling he'll see a lot of interest from contending teams and take a discounted deal to win a cup. |

I have a strong suspicion that we will see at least one of ott or moulson return. |

While I wouldn't mind either, I think Matty Mo is going to garner alot of attention come July. Not many guys in the league have put up the goal totals he has over the last half decade or so. |

The Calgary Flames have reportedly made Ottawa an offer for Jason Spezza, according to league sources.
Jiri Hudler, Mikael Backlund and Dennis Wideman as well as second- or third-round picks have been mentioned, but Ottawa is looking for a top end top-six forward, a highly-ranked prospect and a No. 1 pick. Spezza also apparently doesn't want to play in Canada anymore and sources say the Flames, Canucks, Oilers and Jets are on his list of teams he doesn't want to be traded to. The Senators wouldn't deal him to Toronto or Montreal, but it's unclear if they are on his radar.

Other than the obvious 5-game season in 2012/13, take a guess at how many games he has averaged of the the other 10 most recent years.
He's not the fragile paper doll he's made out to be, IMO. Sandwiching that 5 game season is 80 games and 75 this past year after being out all of 2012/13 basically |

I don't disagree that they might be helped by playing another half-season, or a season in the AHL. Both may very well need some more time in the minors. However, my problem is with the concept itself. There's something very counter-intuitive and arguably incompetent in telling someone that he really has no shot at the big club before the offseason even really starts. If I'm a player, and I'm essentially told that no matter how hard I train, no matter how much I work to improve, I have no shot at realizing my dream in the NHL this year, I'm incredibly disappointed, and it really lessens my incentive to work as hard as I can. That is not how championship teams operate. It's no different than a high school or college Varsity coach in any sport telling a freshman or a sophomore that he's good enough to play varsity, and in fact, he's better than most players on varsity, but he's going to put him on JV anyway simply because that's how it's traditionally done. If a player makes your team better with him on it, he should be playing. That's how competition and accountability, something that's been lacking on this team for years, is fostered. - buffalofan19
Murray never said what you're describing. He said something along the lines of "unless they excel at training camp, they'll be sent down. Basically, if they don't belong in the NHL, they won't play in the NHL. there's absolutely nothing wrong with that line of thinking

Pretty weak offer imo, fodder and parts for line one center.

Do you guys have any info on potential FA's? If we only sign scrubs, we will probably get accused of tanking. - benny948
Carlo Colaiacovo should be on radar. He is clockwork for 65 games a season, can play some 2nd unit PP, and isn't the worst player on a 3rd pairing. Could be perfect if you keep Zadarov around to soak up the NHL a bit before sending him back to juniors. When Carlo gets one of his nagging injuries, you give Zadarov his 10 games.
I think the 10 games in the NHL can be invaluable to the young player. It's the teams who mess up the opportunity to demonstrate to these young guys just what they need to work on to stick next season. What tipped the scale and made me decide your former GM should go was the ineptitude with Grigo. Unforgivable.
I was just thinking of Colorado and Buffalo being trade partners. Let's say Erhoff is a target. Would you want to work a deal for O'Reilly coming back, or their 2014 first round pick? What about expanding it to include Grigo, since Roy is familiar with him and might know what buttons to push? Colorado could free up some money to sign Stastny by moving O'Reilly and balance out payroll between F and D better.
They seem like natural trade partners, and a player like O'Reilly could lessen pressure for the centers Buffalo almost surely drafts this year and next. Also lets Hodgson play on wing that perhaps he's better suited for?

Wow, an intelligent post from Another teams fan. Nice job, pleasant reading good input instead of trolls causing a stir.
I wouldn't mind ROR here, I just have the feeling no big moves this year...except for bottom six forwards and/or 5/6 defensemen. That said I could see the Hoff dealt, but it has to be for a significantiece coming back. That recapture penaltY is high risk in the out years, supposedly when the Sabres are contending and must manage the cap hits...Vs now when they have tons of room.
Good post though Fire. |

Erhoff has told Sabres he wants to be on east coast when talk of him being traded came up months ago . My guess is that it is a much shorter flight home from there.

While he has the clauses to ensure that happens, I think he would much rather be on the Avs than the Sabres. |

Regher had a no trade clause . But said nothing about not wanting go west . I think the difference is Erhoff wants a short flight home to Germany. |

Yes he did. He didn't want to move his family. It was thought he would only waive to stay on the east coast, but waived when a contender showed interest |
