Can't use that as an excuse and yes the Rangers forwards poop on the slow , old Ass flyers defense. Even Coburn , whom the Flyers should trade away. Played like absolute donkey Ass - Winning
Yup, they were awful. Good thing the Rangers tanked those 3 games or they would have been swept.

I wonder if Hextall is looking at the end of the season Grossmann (Nik and Streit were actually a pretty steady pair in the Spring) or looking at the bad stretch he had in the Winter (when that pair was really bad), when thinking about next year and the D.
The D as is absolutely has big holes. But they can compete. I am sure Hextall would love to upgrade where he can. - Marc D
Grossmann had a rock solid year pretty much all year last season too. I think he'll be the odd man out though, simply because I'd imagine Hexy would keep Schenn over him.
I agree with you. The D has holes. No way in hell I'm going to condone that because I'd be laughably wrong. But, like I said earlier, I'm not sure sending out 2 high picks, Brayden Schenn, and another prospect/pick for a defenseman who can play on the first pair is REALLY that much of an upgrade to the team, considering the intense compromising of the future and losing a 22 year old 20 goal scorer who just finished his first full NHL season (right?).
Stay pat is my refrain, because the alternative isn't worth it. Not because I ignorantly and delusionally (yeah that's a word now) think this corps is money as is.
EDIT: Stay pat. You know...a mix between stay put and stand pat |

Good man. I'm not about that life either. Some misplaced sense of self-righteousness, I guess. Plus, I'd honestly feel guilty going to one with a girlfriend in the picture

Pretty much all of my favorite foods. They did their homework. Italian hoagies, hot wings, mozzarella sticks, etc. I pretty much gained 10 pounds yesterday then lost it all this morning. |

Easy now, everything you read is just opinion, personally, replacing Grossman with Gilbert?
Coach didn't trust Schenn to play more than 15-16 minutes, Kimmo will be in a reduced role, not the same one.
Doing this beats the crap again out of Coburn & AMac, and then everyone will female dog they stink, etc, because there's not enough depth. - puckhead17
Getting a viable guy (and no its not going to be Doughty) to play big minutes with Coburn will make the rest of it fall into place.
Kimmo can play with LSchenn, Streit with AMac, and those guys kept in the 15-20 min range/game. (If needed AMac can play more minutes but he seemed to falter a bit when pushed into that role on the Island and in the Rangers series).
Trading for an Ehrhoff type makes sense to me.
Or just go with Kimmo Coburn again and accept that they will be in a fight to make the playoffs and not a Cup contender for the next 2-3 seasons. Which is also OK with me. |

I think Hextall has the patience to stand pat with the D, but wonder if ownership and the majority of the fan base has the same patience. |

a good night! - Marc D
Yeah. It went really well. We're all pretty young so none of us have a ton of money to spend on these kinds of things.
Our older siblings are all in their 30s and do ridiculous poop for bachelor parties. They go to Jamaica for a week and rent a huge house. It ends up being like $3000 per person.
I think thats pretty extreme. |

Yes, AMac faltered when played too many minutes, as did Coburn, pretty much what I previously mentioned.
I'm not, (again, opinion), ok with throwing a few years away waiting for the kids, there will be spots open for the kids when Kimmo, and Streit retire, and do we really believe, realistically, that all 4 D prospects will flourish in the big time?
Edit expecting even one or two of the kids to step in and immediately contribute like a veteran, (because the team is historically thin at the position), is still poor planning. |

We all say we have the patience, and yeah, so did Hextall, but this is not a patient, rebuilding, organization, fanbase, ownership, etc. |

I never get hangovers! It's wonderful. I don't know why...it's not like I don't get ripped either
I just drink a poop ton of water before bed and just straight up eat like 2 slices of bread. Or a bakery roll or something.....works for me. |

The water thing is important, but sometimes I just get too lazy to do it.
I get them, but they pass pretty quickly for me. Friends who are in their 30s have told me hangovers stay longer as you get older. |

To me it looks like they are on the right path now, but are behind and still have to catch up with some teams.
If there is a trade to make that doesn't gut their assets too badly I think they will go for it as they always do, but the UFA D men available are not prime and not worth locking into 6+ yr deals.
I think Ghost and Morin and maybe even Haag seem likely to make it to the NHL in the next 2-4 years, but will they have success, who knows. |

I hope that he does stand pat. If there was an easy answer to solving the issues we have on D, we'd all have the answer already. We didn't have the answer two years ago when Carle walked and Luke Schenn was added. I'd also like to see the defensive pairs get a juggle from time to time the same as the forwards. Many speak as if they have the answer but never directly say what the solution is. Personally believe we should approach the D with caution. |

I love Kimmo Timonen but I thought he was our worst player in the playoffs. Not our worst defenseman but our worst player. |

Timonen is either our best or 2nd best defenseman.
I, also, don't think he was our worst player in the playoffs. He faced the toughest competition of any defenseman on the Flyers, by far, and still managed to have better possession numbers than Amac and Schenn. |

You can think whatever you want but how much possession he had doesn't tell the whole story. An example of how St Louis being able to simply push him down, while St Louis was able to get into an easy scoring position only tells one of a few stories. Which led to a goal against. |
