All those variables are why the window of multiple years being a contending team is the best chance the Flyers will have at winning the cup. - aflyerpower8
I agree with that. But at the same time that a team is waiting for draft picks to develop and bolster the team. Prime years are rolling away for player like Giroux and Voracek.

I got a question. I know MyHockeybuzz has only been in beta for like 10 years..... but how do you stop the SQL error when posting messages on blogs? |

I see the United States Keeper has a shutout going in the 53rd minute. Lock it up. - PLindbergh31
The Swiss scored in the last minute to beat Ecuador 2-1 yesterday. Will say the diving is pretty bad though. Lightest contact and they scream. |

As fluid as this draft could be it may not be as easy to even move down. I'd like to see the Flyers if they could slide back to 20 - 22 and gain another pick or two.
Moving up for any of those 4 plus Ehlers would be nice but still a high cost. - ob18
Yeah, need a dance partner. Just have to hope a team loves a prospect that's there at 17 that they don't think will be there for their pick. |

If the Flyers stand pat at 17 and a guy like Barbeshev falls to them I would take him. Love kids that have a 200ft game to them. Competes hard. Hits. I read he also plays C so along with LW he add some offensive versatility.
I think if you can get Kane for B Schenn straight up you do it. I know Kane may have some issues but sometimes all it takes is a change of scenary. For those who don't follow the NFL, I am an Oakland Raider fan and when Randy Moss was there he all but gave up and had 2 of his worst statistical seasons in his career. He was traded to New England, a winning franchise, and boom! he put up an NFL record 23 TD receptions the next year.
Just saying sometimes all it takes for these guys is a new team. When you get used to losing it can wear on a player and cause them to look disinterested. Maybe the right team and or linemates can push Kane to maximize is full potential. |

I hear you. An injury prone player like Gaborik would probably break into 100 pieces in a Flyers sweater. - PLindbergh31
He'd likely break his wrist just signing the contract |

B Schenn for Kane? straight up?
In a heartbeat. Kane would score 40 skating with Giroux and Jake |

Barbashev is on a lot of lists, very solid grab at 17.
Agree on Kane. He's a guy that has shown he can score at NHL level & he's been fish bowled in The 'Peg. Change if scenery could do him great. |

Kane is going to cost you more along the lines of Couturier than bSchenn. |

I wonder if the Flyers will make a run at Gaborik. He could be a good fit. - PLindbergh31
On December 21st 2013 I took a road trip to Columbus to see the Flyers face the jackets. I bought the ticket to see Marian Gaborik. Lucky for me he made his return to the line up when I purchased the ticket a month prior. He played two shifts before getting hurt again, not before registering an assist against us. |

I was referencing the Schenn/Kane scenario to a rumor I read. Not assuming the Jets would do this, but I heard that was all it would take.
Yeah no doubt it is a no brainer on the Flyers end. I think Coots is off limits for anyone. I think his offense will catch on sooner than later and he will be a very VERY special player for us for quite awhile. |

People talk about Schenn being more along offensively, but Couturier had 7 fewer goals and only two fewer points, playing against far better competition in a shutdown role an with a lot less PP time.
I think if Couturier got the kind of useage Schenn got, he might be the one with 20 goals |

The back-read today was brutal
But any day we haven't traded Schenn and Coburn is a good day, as far as I'm concerned, so I will keep on doing what I do because I'm superstitious like that |

So would I, and who wouldn't. And of course that is the goal of every team to get to the point of being a top contender, to give the best chance. But that didn't work out for the Bruins this year. Last year the Kings got knocked out. So many variables. Injuries, good matchups. Upsets. It all comes into play. And it is true that once you get into the playoffs, you have a chance. Who picked Carolina to win it all the year they won. Who thought the Flyers were going to the Finals during the regular season in 2010? - MJL
You can pretty much thank Ward for Carolina winning the cup. He was the definition of dominate in that playoffs. |

Getting Weight and Recchi at the TDL didn't hurt either... not a bad team at all looking back... not sure why they get used as the example of a team w/ flaws that won.
Tampa is more a case of a team that goalie-cheesed its way to a Cup. |
