Good, I know there's a lot of trolls on here, need to weed them out quickly
Who would have to give up the + in a RoR for Phaneuf swap?? or is it fair on it's own? I'm thinking the leafs would have to sweeten the deal a little due to phaneufs contract, though I suppose this whole team filed arbitration for RoR makes it a tough case in any event..
Whatever, I can hope... |

Tanking is dishonorable to the city, league and to the crest on the front of the sweater.
Never will I support such an act of disgrace. - LeafMan
I'm with you. The notion of tanking is ridiculous. |

the thing about RoR is that his qualifying offer is 6.5 million
so the salary thing would be a wash
i like RoR.. i dont think he's the answer tho.. but i'd flip phaneuf for a bag of pucks too so.. yeah i'd do it lol |

So is our esteemed blogger correct? ie, is O'Reilly on the market if Stastny signs? - fifty__missions
No it's not one or the other, stastny was 1st priority to know the dollar amounts available. If the announce the extension on Friday, they will be working on ror next. |

Have we yet confirmed whether RoR can still be traded, or does the Arb take a trade off the table? |

He can still be traded but nothing says that arbitration comes off the table, if that's the case. That's why I can't see him being traded, team trades for him, can't sign him, is awarded a 2 year deal, takes it and then walks as a Ufa. Can't see him going anywhere unless he asks for a trade or is wanting 7 million a season |

I don't consider trading Phaneuf as a step back but as a step forward, gutting a team for draft picks to intentionally finish at the bottom of the standings is a total lack of ethics within the sport. |

Yes I think he would become the highest paid avalanche if push came to shove. Roy loves him too much, they will get rid of guys like McGinn and pap for cap space to keep ror |

Didn't get the impression OP was talking about taking.
Trading Phaneuf might be a long term step forward but they will in fact be worse next year, unless they replace him with a quality top pairing D... Or 2

It's not necessarily gutting the team, more like giving some of the guys in the minors the chance they deserve. What's the point in finally drafting and developing some young talent if you plan on letting it go to waste playing in the AHL? Not saying all of the marlies are ready to make a jump, or that all marlies WILL make the jump, but certainly 4 or 5 on that roster are NHL ready IMO. |

That's (frank)ed though. No way he should be making more than duchene and Landeskog.

You don't toss 4 or 5 guys all into the NHL at the same time. It's why you have guys like Phaneuf. So those young guys can be sheltered a bit and get used to the game as needed. |
