Honestly, Im a huge soccer fan. Played provincials and some high levels growing up and still play alumni leagues to this day...but how soft some of these guys are at the pro levels disgusts even me...a simple collision or shoulder to shoulder and buddy is out for 2-3 minutes on the ground like he got shot.

Had this chat with a buddy yesterday. The hockey example we used was Stammer getting a puck square in the schnazz and coming back out like 5 mins later after he was cleaned up to finish the game.
Maybe its because we are huge hockey fans, but I truly believe soccer players are the biggest female dogs in professional sports |

that's what happens when the sport is too big not to rig. They make too much money by cheating that the refs are corrupt. So the players just help them out a bit by faking it. And they use the word "beautiful" to describe it. |

But here's the thing - Ive been injured more often in soccer than I have in hockey. Because the speeds youre running at and the little insulation your ankles really have when two guys are challenging for the same ball...you're likely going to injure almost any part of your leg. So those I can relate to...foot to foot, knee to knee type stuff...but there are far too many instances where guys go down for simple contact.
Problem is, they need to draw cards and the league awards guys for falling over. Look at Pepe the other day...buddy went down somewhat easy, he retaliated and Pepe gets thrown out because of it. It doesnt do your team any good to be tough and get right back up...makes you look like a man, but your coach wont be too happy for not getting the call. Ive been there and declined to "act injured".
Anyways...soccer is a great game and its a shame all the attention is constantly put towards the "diving"....a real shame. |
