EDM needs a guy that makes Schultz play sheltered minutes. If they get Yandle, he's in the exact same situation. - TheNugeIsHuge
So the answer is to wait until we can find that guy? |

Hmmm.....close. But leaves us still with Gags at 2 C and only 1 top 6 RWer. - Iggysbff
Option 1: They could flip the 9th pick or package it in a J Staal like deal for a C. Maybe sign Vrbata or Moulson or something
Option 2: Break the bank on Grabo and draft Ritchie/Virtanen to be that future 2RW
Just spewing out crap here |

Like I said over there, if we are getting a top pairing d-man and a two-way physical center and the cost is one roster player and a futures, then we really can't dismiss that trade.
Even if we give up the best piece, it would be damn hard to turn down. - Lahey
well said
and just to add to that abit; until proven otherwise, it's actually US who get the TWO best pieces in that deal. that are far from old, and also have the potential to help for years to come.
I don't want to pretend that im just all for dealing pieces and don't have serious trepidation about moving a lottery pick or a guy with yaks potential. but if u get drastically better in the short term, and end up a more well rounded team in the future, what the pieces you traded way end up doing don't really matter too much. |

He's in the same boat as Yandle. Only difference is his big and black. |

Jordan Staal? - Jeropotato
In a J Staal like deal. Which was 8th overall+Sutter+Dumoulin. So, say 9th overall+Gagner+Simpson or something, maybe a little more.
And Jordan Staal would be a great fit. Overpaid but he's big, defensively responsible, and has strong possession numbers. I imagine he'd be great for Yak |

Never hear much about Bogosian anymore.....has he hit the skids or is he just in the middle of a fairly deep roster of D-Men. A few years ago he seemed like a decent all around player. - Jeropotato
he's a good player in the middle of a damn good defence. probably doesn't have the offensive talent of buff, nor the superstar potential of trouba.
a quality two way, top 4 guy. he'd be a great fit here I think |

He wasn't even worth that at the time. Rutherford screwed up big time. No wonder he got hired in Pittsburgh. You don't pay that much for a guy that you know will only play for you.
Although in the end Rutherford maybe is ahead of the game. CAR is stukc with a high paid 2nd liner and PIT has those assets. |

Not really. He never played in the pacific. That and Buff was a forward when he played for CHI. |

again, I'm just saying a J Staal like deal. Not necessarily for J Staal, although he wouldn't be a bad fit |

Wonder if that offense will ever come. Seems to be the missing piece to his game. |

Who won the Lindros trade? Philly or Quebec/Colorado? I dont think its even close. Colorado won that trade hands down. No way I would trade Hall/Ebs + for McDavid. - Iggysbff
Lindros was one hell of a talent- had he been concussion free and not had a short shelf life in the NHL there would have been stronger debate... |

I don't mind him, but he looks like Horcoff 2.0 with that contract. |

No there wouldn't. Before Stevens squashed his brains like the Mountain did that fruitcake on Game of Thrones 2 weeks ago, the Avalanche had 2 Stanley Cups. Avs won that trade by a landslide. |

ah. Whoops. Thought PHX was in the central for some reason.
Still. Buff played the toughest minutes with Enstrom in WPG and faired quite well. Whereas Yandle played about 4th-5th toughest comp available |

But Byfuglien has succeeded playing top competition in the same division - TheNugeIsHuge conference, not division.
he's very strong offensively, but the stats say that enstrom is biggest reason why that pairing has any real defensive success.
byfuglien is the strongest at creating scoring chances, while it's enstrom that is the best at supressing scoring chances.
the same goes for yandle.
he's the offensive driving force, while oel is the defensive strength.
im not so sure yandle and byfuglien are much different. byfuglien has the size, while yandle still puts up great numbers on a more offensively challenged team.
both are fantastic on the pp |

Buff was a forward most the year wasn't he? I know Yandle isn't the optimal choice, but at some point we have to take what we can get. Richarding around waiting for the perfect fit happened already to this team, doubt it's going to happen again. |

Byfuglien baby!
Eberle+Perron+3rd+ for Kane+Byfuglien+9th - TheNugeIsHuge
I would do that... but take Perron out and insert a different player... |
