At the end of the day, if they only play 5 min a night, there is still 55 other minutes of hockey. Gazdic for a good amount of games at the start of the year was not on for a single goal.

I don't think you need to dress these guys for more than 30 games. Just dress them for when you know an idiot is on the other team that likes to run around.

Are there corsi numbers for specific games that show that Hall/Nuge etc play better with Gazdic on the bench? There are lots of players who feel they can play their game with one of them on the bench.

I prefer NHL calibre players but that's just me apparently.

I understand wanting a guy in the top 6 (say, Wayne simmonds) who'll fight the guy that just laid you out, but Gazdics and Thorntons fight almost exclusively other 4th liners in staged meaningless fights.

fighting Lucic was his shining moment. Westgarthx2, konopka, thornton, bordeleau, boll, mcgrattan, nolan, sestito, thorburn all guys that don't get shifts against the top 6 but Gazdic "protected" them by fighting them. I don't get it

Yak was still concussed. Gags was still axed in the face. Hall still hurt his knee. All without repercussions so I don't know when he protects anybody

I hope we don't sign Thornton or Gazdic to show that we've learned face punchers are useless

The protection thing is pretty overblown. every now and then someone will stand up for their linemate getting hit (penner went after doughty when he hit hall), but enforcer types rarely fight anyone other than themselves.

most of them aren't even good fights, and then the good fights result in someone's head getting bashed in which sucks regardless of the paycheck they take home.

With Iiro pakarin (ugh I can't spell these names without looking at them) signing today I think the bottom six will be a little different then some are expecting I think we might see a team that looks something like this

Hall Hopkins eberle
perron drasinitti yakupov
jonesou Gordon pakarin
gazdic henricks pitlick

up front, that's only two changes really but I believe a healthy jonesou can do better then he did last year, Iiro is a wildcard, 7th round pick from the panthers I believe who never signed. He's got size and to all accounts a vry good shot with a hard working style and a good finesh. scored 20 goals last year Wheither or not he is able to make the NHL right now is anybodys guess though I think he's got a decent chance, he's also only 22 so he fits right in. It's the back end that needs the most improvement.

Is up to the Coach to put Gazdic in a situation where He can send a message,Gazdic can't do much from the bench,I can guarantee 100% that if Gazdic doesn't get sign or is put on waivers Gazdic would get pick up quick and then later some fan's would be crying about it.

I think those are fair points however:

- Was Gazdic in the lineup that night against Minnesota (I think)

- Nobody knew who Gazdic was at that point, which could've but not definitely, played into that.

Apparently on 24CH (the Canadiens behind the scenes show), Zack Smith was running around like an idiot until Parros stepped on the ice and started blowing in his ear. Smith stopped running around since he didn't want to fight Parros. I only heard this from someone else and couldn't find the clip on youtube. So take it for what it is.

This is definitely a grey area.
