ROR is nowhere near worth 7 mill a year if that's what someone was thinking a few pages back. - SABRES 89
He just made 6.5 last year.
That's kinda close to 7 mil........ |

Myers, Ennis, Hodgson, Girgensons...
All still KIDS learning how to play the game IMO
And yes, I would like to see a real "leader" here to show them the way so they don't end up like Roy, Connolly, Stafford, etc
Why is that the "C" is so valued by so many, yet u think leadership isn't important?
As far as O'Reilly goes...
He's well known to be a very good defensive player. You're smart enough to know +/- can be deceiving... Aren't u?
He's a good young two-way player
What is the difference if we traded for O'Reilly this off season or next?
Please make sense of this timing issue u keep bringing up - jdfitz77
There's a huge difference. I don't understand how you can't see it yet. We get ROR this offseason he could be the one difference maker that will get us the 10th pick instead of a top 3 pick. One player can make all the difference. Would the Kings have won the cup without Williams or Doughty this season? Nope. ONE PLAYER MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE. |

Idk...
Salaries are getting crazy
He started last season as a 22yr old and scored 28g
He's known to be very good defensively
And has gotten better every year
I'm more worried about what it would cost to trade for him than what it would cost to pay him
Its at the point now where just about every contract seems like an overpayment to me, but that's what you've gotta do to sign guys now
Not ideal, but it is what it is

He's treated like a 40 goal Selke winner here. He was clutch of course, but not a superstar. He was a good 2nd line center. Nothing more |

Hodgson and Ennis would have both performed much better on Colorado . You are surrounded by talent there and there was stability not the flux the endured in Buffalo . What is O'Reilly going to teach Myer's about playing professional hockey.
The difference we build more assets up and have another year to evaluate them better before we ship any of them of . Colorado is not moving him !!!! And Buffalo is not the place for him yet !!!! They have a plan here Murray is going to fill voids and make no major moves till after the 2015 draft . You really need to learn some patience . This rebuild is not going to happen in two years as you wish . It won't take 5 either . We are not going to sniff the playoffs till the 16- 17. Then hopefully we have a nice 8 to 10 year run of being in the hunt for the cup every season. season . The kids are going to have to be bad before they get good.

Well if most people want him then we should just offer Myers straight up for him right? why keep messing around if that's the player they want to start the rebuild.
The AVS want a D man so make it a 1 for 1 and be done with it, IMO ROR doesn't leave the AVS but the Sabres may or may not move Myers. |

Right or wrong,
They felt he was worth more than 4 1st rd picks that accompanied that offer sheet. |

True, I do think that an addition like Gaborik can out a team that's as good as LA over the top
BUT...
How much did he improve a team that kinda stunk like when he was at Cbus?
I guess that's tough to say for sure bc he was hurt with them...
So I'm gonna look up the difference Carter made w Cbus & I'll get back to u in a few

IMO he doesn't have the top end skill we need.
We need guys with 30-40 goal 70-80 point potential. We shouldn't be moving any big peices for anything less.
I like O'Reilly, but the guy is not a good enough offensive player IMO.
People say he's Bergeron, but Bergeron has had two 70 point seasons by the age of 21. |

Boy were they wrong ! Imagine where we would be now . But too much pressure from fans after losing the dynamic duo . If you listen to the fans in making moves like that . You end up sitting with them , and not in your nice executive seats.

The thing is Edmonton wouldn't have been as bad as they were.
If I were to guess they would've given us one top 10 pick and the rest would've been in the 15-22 range. Not sure Buffalo would be so much better off. |

Would they have been ? He did not make us that much better when you look back at it . Political atmosphere around here would not let them not match that offer sheet .

IMO his "Leadership" qualities are overrated.
If the choice is 7 mil per for a broken down 29yr old Callahan or just getting into his prime 23 yr old ROR , you pay ROR all day long.
Callahan IMO shouldn't nor should ever be a viable option for this organization at this point. |

No Glue please . Another over rated idea. His leadership is greatly over rated . The team he led , got swept in the first round . The team he left advanced further than they ever did with him . No thanks to that leadership . Being from western New York does not guarantee he is a leader. You just are not going to get lots of folks agreeing with you on part 1 or part 2 of your agenda for Mr Murray.
Sorry |

He blocks shots and will take a run at Chara.... People confuse balls with leadership. Who knows how good of a captain he actually is. All I know is the team he left got better, and the team he went to got swept |
