I figured you meant Brad, but tried to spin it on a player that I guess some feel LA could be moving away from. That idea seems crazy to me, but I guess if they feel Toffoli and Pearson are going to be vying for top-6 roles, Richards is expendable.

I don't think they should trade him but I think they will entertain offers from other teams. It's crazy to think that after winning two cups with him now all of a sudden they want to trade him.

Why in God's name would anyone consider buying out Leino normally? Perhaps it is only a little over a mil per season in the last 3 years, but why would we want to deal with that when that is supposed to be the time we are going to be good? Compliance buy him out, and get to the floor another way....it shouldn't be that hard to do.

I just don't feel it should be that hard to reach the ceiling. We are talking about a whopping 2+ million that a regular buy-out would give us on the cap. We seriously can't find a veteran who will sign a 1-year deal to take care of that? Why hamstring ourselves for 5 more years because of that? To me, it seems INSANE!!!

Yea bUT mcdavid and echel is the best one two punch since OV and malkin,

I hope Girgensons turns into a hard hitting 50 point guy . That is where I envision him . Not fair to compare Girgensons numbers to O'Reilly . Girgensons is still learning and has a lot less talent around him.

Even if he replaces what we lost with Moulson/Vanek, we still have no legitimate captain and no Miller
Unless we make a bunch of significant changes, we are still gonna stink... Bad

Penguins made the playoffs Malkin's rookie year. The only reason it looks like a while on paper was the hold up in getting Malkin to come over from the KHL and the lockout.

Malkin + Crosby turned them from bottom dweller to division contender (2pts back of NJ for the title) instantly.

No to O'Reilly - not worth the assets they will want for him. Not the right timing for that sort of move . And lastly and most important - No way he is leaving Denver.
And it is not realistic to have expectations of Girgensons ? What do people do every day projecting one player or another as another so and so. Tim Murray has a plan whether you like or not and I doubt he makes the major move you seem to be looking for in O'Reilly or Mr Glue Callahan - At this time . No doubt moves will be made when the time is right . But hiis biggest priority has always been 2015 draft and he has pretty clear about that . Why is he going to do anything to endanger that . Even to placate a few fans that want something major now ?

$6.5 to $7 million is way too much for that type of player, even if the scenario you lay out comes to fruition. And he probably will get even more than that if he goes to UFA in a year or two.

While you are right they didn't "tank" and draft top 3 multiple years in a row, they did in fact win 2 cups because of top 5 draft picks.

Brayden Schenn was drafted 5th overall and was the main piece to aquire Richards
Doughty was 2nd overall
Jack Johnson was a former 3rd overall pick who was the main piece in getting Jeff Carter.

Bottom line is that if they don't draft top 5 or have those caliber prospects in their system they don't make the cup finals let alone win 2

It's not totally Ehrhoff's call. He has to have a list of 10 teams he won't accept a trade to. So in reality not every West team can be on it.
