If Flyers move Grossmann, I would like someone a little bigger and more physical than Oduya with comparable mobility. Otherwise, the Flyers D core mix becomes like Dallas' this past season.

I was watching NHL live earlier tonight, and they mentioned in passing that Volchenkov might be on his way out in Jersey. I'm not sure how much he has left in the tank at this point, and of course he's a left handed shot. He does have size and grit, though.

Not just for the sake of trading him. Give me a viable replacement - JS suggested Fayne, which makes some sense - that fits the mix Hextall has gone on record for saying he wants. If Grossmann goes, the Flyers will need another D man with some size and muscle. Another smallish puck mover ala Gustafsson isn't what they want.

I also wouldn't dump Grossmann for the sake of dumping him. I think his contract is fair, we'd need back what he already brings, except we wish he were better with the puck and more mobile. What it comes down to for me, we cannot move Grossmann without getting Grossmann or better then Grossmann in return. We cannot move Coburn without getting a Coburn back or better because Coburn is too valuable to the Flyers. Am I sensing a pattern?

Because you need depth at Center also. That weakens the team too much at one position. You're losing two of your best young forwards. I love Josi, but one or the other in the deal. Not both.

Mark Fayne would be a good replacement for Grossmann. not as physical, but better with puck and good mobility for his size.
